Well I could run down and have one or walk down and have them both!

The auto is easy in traffic and at the track. It can take more torque without breaking. An auto is great when you want to go fast in a straight line and have enough power to make up for the driveline loss from a torque converter.
The auto also second-guesses you and is less involving to drive. Like old Miatas, the auto will likely not hold its value as well. The auto gets no respect. One of the most common questions I get after people find out what car I have is whether or not it's a manual. Every time I've bought an auto, I've pined for a manual. With the manual, I do not pine for the auto, except in the rare occasions when I'm in stop and go traffic and heading uphill.

Driving an automatic is very convenient in heavy traffic and stop and go. Although, if you drive a manual and get used to it, that advantage that the automatic has won't be a problem.

get whatever you want. the auto is slower with better fuel economy (both are relatively slow).
I have an auto. the manual mode with the shifter doesn't feel bad. its pretty responsive. |

People who badmouth automatic transmissions are out of line. It's not very nice to make fun of the kid who needs training wheels or the old guy who has to ride a trike because he can't stay up on two wheels. Some people need a bit of help with the things the rest of us take for granted, and that's O.K.

Debate's never going to be settled but my opinion. Came back from 12 hour work shift and shifting the manual was a pain, next day was another 12 hour shift. Hill starts are evil. I feel like I can relax driving an auto. And second, at least for the 86, the auto settles at a lower RPM than the manual at highway speeds which is bit quieter and more fuel efficient.
Any of the two would be fine. I still took the manual. But if it was a good DCT, I'd be a flip of the coin. Last edited by Chanpion; 12-25-2014 at 12:55 AM. |

I see the autos are only for women/sissies crowd is openly suffering with their sds or "small dong syndrome"...
Good thing I don't let my transmission choice affect the size of my dong I own both autos and manuals, and guess what...I paid for them...so who cares what other people say, drive both transmissions and get what suits your life |

If you want healthy, eat a salad. If you want speed, buy any of a few dozen cars that are faster. Hell, my Cherokee is faster than this thing. In a straight line, at least. |

Don't take it personally, what I mean is that this is one of those cars that deserves to be driven with a manual, just like the cars you listed above. I wish they came in manuals as well. Do you drive stick personally?
