I had a look underneath my exhaust tips and I can't seem to find any bolts.

This is the exhaust system that I have:
http://www.garage88.com.au/index.php...oducts_id=1917

Are the tips not detachable for some exhaust systems?

Also, could someone give me an example of a good paint to use for the job? I'm thinking of painting the outside of the tips in gloss red and the inside in matte black. The tips don't get too hot so even plastidip would be able to withstand the heat?

The 2 popular brands I found are VHT and Rust-Oleum. Which would be the better choice? Also, is it also necessary to use primer prior to painting?

Thanks.

Just pull the whole axle back assembly off. It's only 2 bolts and 4 hangers. It's maybe a 10 minute job. You can't really go wrong with either paint. I like VHT personally.

I have seen people use Plasti-dip with good results. Google it.

I read up on it on another forum, and apparently plasti-dip is only heat resistant up to 148 degrees C, which isn't suitable for exhaust tips.

I'll probably just go with the VHT then. Is the flameproof paint the right one to get?

I'm looking for more of a gloss finish, but since the exhaust tips don't get as hot, would I be able to use Caliper paint instead?

Does Primer need to be sprayed on before spraying the VHT paint on?

Thanks!

But many people have dipped their tips. (giggity) F*** what you read on a stat sheet. This is real life and it has worked in every case I've heard/read of.

And that's 300 degree F by the way. I can touch my exhaust tips after a run...

Just in case some of you might be interested in knowing I went with painting the exhaust. I used a combination of VHT red caliper paint and clearcoat over it. I also painted the inside of the exhaust with BBQ heatproof blackpaint and a brush.
