This seems to be a great upgrade in terms of weight savings but won't this disrupt the brake bias in a very negative way?

if I shoot you a parasolid or step of a similar bracket, can you run that same FEA on it?

How are those calipers so cheap?

Looks like a fun project. Got weights on the package?

Why not use the 120-11782-bk? This is the caliper used for the FRS BBK...

There's a substantial difference in piston diameter between those calipers and the ones the OP picked (1.620 vs 1.120). Given that the AP kit keeps bias very close to stock, I would imagine the calipers chosen by the OP the bias is changed quite a bit.

@wparsons luckily wilwood has a large enough line of calipers that we can find a set with an appropriate piston area that fits his bracket design

Check out Swift996's brake kit post and his build thread. He reports significant weight savings and much improved street brake experience with essentially the same caliper and rotors.
Here is the link again

120-11782-bk costs 300$ PER CALIPER. These are essentially the same as the WRX calipers in terms of pistons, piston area and pads, and only cost 125 per piece. Brake bias seems to be a concern for a lot of us including me, but i am confident that similar rotor diameters and piston areas as the Wilwood FRS kit will provide a similar net result.

Sure. Send me a STEP please.
The FEA assumes a lot, plus my caliper is not radial mount, which makes the whole study simpler, as i can safely assume Caliper to be a rigid body (only for the confines of the FEA, i.e. direct force transfer from caliper to its bracket). Plus there are no bending moments as there is inherent assumption that the rotor pulls the caliper and thus loads the bracket in a plane parallel to its own.

I think i might have stopped making sense there...

All normal mount Wilwood Forged dynalites and maybe Dynalites should fit.

Oh, well never mind then. I was going to draw up some brackets for radial mount Porsche calipers, but if the FEA wouldn't tell us much anyway, I guess there's not a lot of point. I'd probably cut them out of 4130 anyhow, which I'm SURE would be strong enough.
