Wet engine bay?
So my battery has died on me three time in the past two months. I decided to buy a yellow top Optima since there ratings were amazing. Well, it is snowing out today but when I popped the hood open the original batter was all wet. The black plastic man under the battery was also. Should I be worried about this? I'm just worried that there gets a large enough amount of water on the battery to short it and create a cross current... If this is the case that could of been the issue with the old oem battery...

Lol. The engine bay isn't waterproof. Everything will be all wet. That's normal.

I know it's not water proof Haha, I just mean water and a battery don't usually mix well.

I'm not an experienced car guy, but a cheap solution that comes to my mind is to take out the old battery, dry everything in the engine bay, put in a new battery....and take a 2-4 gallon freezer Ziploc bag and tape it over and around the battery. if it's sealed properly, water won't reach the connections.
Edit: Then again, it gets incredibly hot inside when the car is running. |

I sprayed down the engine bay with a cleaner and right after power washing while the car was on, then air gun dried. Nothing happens. Just cant soak it for a long while I guess.

Doesn't matter as electricity follows the path of least resistance.
In this case, it's not the water, but the connections that are the path of least resistance so it's fine. |
