yeah, I had a feeling someone would bring that up. Honestly, to me, most of those issues were blown out of proportion and really aren't reliability issues... just some poor designs.

I think GM got the short end of the stick, social media can really start snowballing things.

True but if you read Consumer Reports you'd thing it was a reliable as a VW or a KIA. Don't read too much into Consumer Reports, although they suddenly stopped thinking highly of the twins the fact that there's a disparity between the FR-S and BRZ makes me suspect of all their reviews now. How can two identical cars have different issues and how the cars strengths don't seem to counteract any of their flaws makes me doubt their objectivity.

P.S. this was covered in another thread.

P.P.S the CR subscribers that submitted their surveys for the twins must've thought they were buying a Camry (those things are a gift from God).

Yep, you're bringing up a great point. I looked a consumer reports a while back and there's difference in their rating between the FRS/ BRZ. I know the only differences between the two are some interior additions and such but there hasn't been any reported problems with those.

To my statement, minor stuff really shouldn't affect you unless you have OCD. Crickets, leaky tails lights.

Many of the items listed have been fixed ages ago anyway. Leaky tail lights, body panel alignment, rev dip, and a few other concerns were all related to the first run cars and other then the very rare exception you don't see them anymore. Unfortunately the report data was gathered early and was based on those initial cars and the problems with them. Anybody that expects to get a car in it's initial release year and not have some sort of problem is living in a dream world (although many did have no issue)! The reports are also sort of like this forum in that, the people that have no issues don't step up and say "all is good" and it is more the people that say "I have issues and want the world to know" that get heard.

How does this get rectified? Keep in mind, if the day comes we want to sell our twins somebody looking at CR's "cars to avoid" will see the '13 FR-S and BRZ clear as day. How do you think that will impact our resale values...................

We wait! CR usually does updates every couple of years so hopefully they eventually do ours again. As long as we all don't start blowing engines or dropping trannies then the number of "issues" will have dropped dramatically (I hope).
Oh...and stop getting replacement fuel pumps that do not change anything!
Although I despise the fact that a noisy pump, leaking taillights and squeaky windows are considered "reliability" issues the fact remains that they impact the stats.

Wait?! The tail lights have been factory fixed? How'd they do it. Mine just started leaking. I was going to DIY fix them but parts are coming in very slow so it hasn't been done yet.

Also want to know. I bought my FRS 3 weeks ago and I noticed some condensation in the right taillight last weekend. Have to keep an eye on it to see if it reoccurs. Would be great to know that I can have the dealer swap out the taillights for new, improved ones.

They changed the gasketing late in 13. There may be a few that still have the issue but no where near what happened with the first runs.

It may have been a one off. Bunch of threads on here talk about the problem and some guys would have it happen once and never see it again. Like you said keep and eye on it and if it continues take it in.

The TSB only applies to early VIN cars so might work for Chanpion but Billy may have a hassle if his service department are jerks.
