Exclamation Engine light on, but OFT does not recognize it

I have a '14 BRZ with Borla UEL. I'm running the stage II 93 octane tune.

All fluids seem fine, and it runs great. The header has been on for 1500 miles, or so with no issues. I did some research, and I expected the OFT to pull up an exhaust code, indicating that the header bolts may have loosened, but it's not recognizing anything at all.

Thoughts?

if you have a CEL but the OFT does not read it, it is because the code is non-engine related. Currently, the OFT only reads powertrain/engine related codes.

Does the OFT read the loose gas cap code?

That's my guess.

That was the first thing that I checked. It's on tight. OFT says, "No Fault Codes. Hurray!"

Are there non-engine related codes that would cause the check engine light to come on?

Yes, the most common ones are transmission control codes that occur in 6AT cars. For example, 6AT cars often get a CEL after each ECU flash caused by a TCU communication error. This is normal and clears itself after a few drive cycles.

could be many non engine related issues, you sometimes get a cel if your been drifting as the traction\ stability system gets upset.

does the cruise control still work ??

a cheap scantool will pull the code.

even though the oft wont read code it will clear all codes, but you should find out what it is before clearing it.

Cruise did not work. It works now though, as I disconnected/reconnected the battery. The engine light went away, and cruise works again. I guess I'll see if it comes back on.

get a cheap obd2 bluetooth reader and use torque or similar app to read/clear codes OFT cant.
i had the o2 sensor code (P0420) and for some reason the OFT didnt pick it up , but torque did.
