OFT tune still get O2 sensor light
i have the stg1 oft tune and i still get the O2sensor check engine light periodically,
just wondering if thats normal, i know you just clear it but was just wondering if others also keep getting it. i thought the tune would prevent it from even showing up again. i also have catted headers |

It's not the tune that is causing the o2. If you put the stock tune back in, you will get the same thing.
First step of troubleshooting is to take note of the code #. Do you know what it is? |

Wait - which catted headers? Aftermarket and do you have other intake/exhaust mods? If so, you're going to need to disable the DTC for the code you're getting (probably P0420). The catted aftermarket headers out there are designed to be CEL-free only with stock intake/exhaust. Make the system more free-flowing than that, and you need to do something about the O2 sensor.

You're going to need to disable P0420 DTC on your tune to get around that. As Jeremy from FT86SF has said himself, they designed the catted header to not throw CEL only on the stock intake/exhaust. While you might get away with it, it's likely only a matter of time before P0420 pops up.

The Stg1 tune doesn't disable the DTC for P0420 but Stg 2 does. Otherwise, you can make this change yourself with Rom Raider and the appropriate definition file for your CALID. Do you have experience in that?

You can either hex edit the bin file directly and 00 out the right address, alternatively, using Rom Raider, you're going to go into Diagnostic Trouble Codes, and find the option for (P0420) CAT EFFICIENCY BELOW THRESHOLD, and set the value to "off". Just like making a Registry edit in Windows.
That said, the harder part is making sure you've got the right XML definition file for your CALID, and it contains the mapping information for the P0420 flag. I don't know if all of the OFT definition files have that or not, so if it's not showing up as an option for you in Rom Raider, you're going to need to add the mapping info to the XML file. The information you put in there is going to depend on your CALID and whether you're on the OFT 1.x or 2.x tune file. The 1.x file uses the definitions that are for your exact CALID, the 2.x file uses one based on B01 I believe. |
