I don't have an RX8 around here to test/compare, but anecdotal evidence from drivers that do the back to back testing is mounting. I think the car is properly classed, and I think it's obviously a trophy contender. I just wonder if it's really got the potential to win on a national level course against an RX8 all things being equal. I've got trophies and podiums and stuff - I want a damn jacket!

Regardless, I still have some things to try. I want to get the 245's off the car and go to 225's to get the transient performance up, and I need to make a straight pipe exhaust. I've considered getting a pair of DA front shocks made, but I'm pretty happy with the car's balance as-is at this point.

You'd need to take the wheels to a machine shop and shave the mounting surface back, which is a very large amount and probably very unsafe. Spacers only add offset.

You can't make a +35mm offset wheel legal unless you get a machine shop to shave 6mm off the hub pad. The more spacer you add, the more negative the offset becomes.

... and if you're going the other way, I put even my 5mm spacers aside until I had longer wheel studs. The stockers are SHORT.

I can only use a 3mm when using certain lugs. Not all lugs taper enough to seat well with 3mm spacer!

Glad someone caught this. Thread totally jumped the shark there. It's nice not having a real off season.

The gearing hurts us against the RX8, but on a 60 MPH course or less, I don't really see it being an issue. A course that's heavy in slaloms and low on top speed should favor the twins over the RX8. Other than one random car in California, the only the Miata to show any signs of being competitive, let alone faster than the twins has big $$ Double adjustable Koni's, that no one has even tried on the twins yet. And this car is driven by Fenter, a former national champion in arguably the most competitive class at nationals (SSR). I'm not even sure he'll be driving that car next season, and I've beaten the car owner (Harvey) 2/3 times when facing him. There's still more shit to be tried and tested before saying the twins can't even podium at nationals I feel. The 370Z is gone, our PAX number is fixed. We should all be pretty damn excited.
Big +1. My setup turns the knob to 11 on transitions/slaloms but I suffer a bit in sweepers. I'm still on OEM shocks, I think if I had some pimp DAs I could probably fix that. Add the right tires, staying off the cones, not getting sick at nats, who knows where I end up? Simply getting a trophy is not going to be my goal.

I thought some people ran the MCS shocks this year?

Get the nameless track exhaust. Not as cheap as DIY but it's an easy button.

I've got the Perrin resonated catback, so I need to get a v-band straight pipe made to replace the muffler section.

Quick question on the camber bolts I didn't see in here. Does the fsm specify a part number or can any camber bolt(including eccentric) be used?

At nationals? Not sure. The Potocki FR-S from Wilmington and East couse Pro's Tour's runs MCS shocks. 370Z's kept them from making the trip to Lincoln. Our times have been very similar at most events we've both attended.

Last year at nationals Trevor Jones was on MCS, and I think he was the fastest twin until the final run, when he pas passed by Laughlin running Koni yellows. I'd love to see a test of both cars on similar tires/bars back to back.

I'd be more curious to see shock dyno plots.

I mean, at that point it's going to come down to driving style and where to turn the knob, unless one set has additional adjustment range the other doesn't and this part of the range proves faster. Without the data in hand you can really only draw conclusions between those two individual sets of shocks, just my opinion. Konis in particular I've heard can have significant variation.

If I get shocks next year I will post dynos (I've searched and haven't found any). We'll see what the budget allows.

To stay in C-Street and be in the rules, you must run the Toyota/Subaru factory approved parts. This means no eccentrics.
