Problem is this tends to turn you into a nerd who does argue, sorry discuss, tolerances etc.
OK If that is the case I am back to being on your side!

Unless the dyno graph was adjusted differently than standard to show "true" torque that Toyota engine had lower peak torque than the BRZ. If I read correctly it also produced less power at 7,000 rpm than our Subie boxer, but that would be the 10% approx smaller displacement effect I expect.

Stock v's Turbo on the same dyno. No massive gains until the cam change, but once wound past 7000 the turbo & higher revving cam just rip the stock engine apart. That's exactly what I wanted because I normally ended up in the 7-7.5 thousand rpm range just as the car was straightened up.

Didn't anyone notice that the Saab engine had a revolutionary hinged engine block? The cylinders and head would hinge out from the crankcase effectively lowering compression while retaining the same stroke and displacement. All they had to seal against was oil splash and crankcase pressure, so the seals didn't even have to be that stout. It's an ideal solution for an inline turbo, or super-charged engine, but not for the boxers, V4's, V6's, V8's, V10's, V12's, or V16's. In simple terms, it was actually lifting the top half of the engine up, on demand, and although the stroke and displacement remained the same, the compression ratio lowered because the pistons didn't rise as high up in the cylinders.

Dude...really.... Did you read any of this thread? Did you not notice that it degenerated to meaningless drivel? There was a reason for that! Then you felt the need to resurrect it?
Well at least Ubersurber can't start up on the topic again.

It's a shame suberman has left the forum, I would love to see someone of his intellectual caliber argue this out with ubersuber.

Most likely to be found in the suspension forum and winter tire threads.

Assuming he comes back, he won't be able to help himself and he will blow his cover, again.

Good place for him/them.
Think we have stopped this thread from resurrecting any further yet?
Is there anybody brave enough to say "Oh, but the SAAB engine is blah, blah, blah, bullshit, bullshit, bullshit (insert massive drawing here)"?
