Now if you would have worded it as such, 'Nobody is willing to accept that different cultures have different equipment requirements and techniques to whom they consider best practices,' I would fully agree there. He believes his cultures' techniques are best, I believe mine and most my countrymen's are best. We don't have to come to an agreeance for our techniques and requirements to be best fitting for what we do.. but some food for thought- physics does not take into account national creed or culture. It truly doesn't matter where we're from. There are right ways to do it. There's also a million different ways to skin a cat, drive a stick, bake a cake, or please your girlfriend/wife. Some of them involve hands, some involve feet, or perhaps hands and feet, or tools. Usually a combination of all three. And elbow grease. P.S. Quote:

I'm an brit living in Canada - smug and passive aggresive
I agree with stonenewt's comments earlier in this thread - modern fuel injected cars which will automatically open the throttle a bit when they detect the revs dropping too low will probably be just fine if you try and hold them on a hill using the clutch with no throttle. Older cars with carburettors, or finicky fuel injection, or too low idle - they'll stall. I've driven plenty of cars (in good mechanical condition) which will stall if you try and set off without using throttle, even really gently on the flat. Maybe if they were big american V8s it wouldn't be a problem. |

Well the manual transmission WAS invented in France in the 1800s.
However the modern synchro-mesh transmission was introduced in the US in 1928 and has barely changed since. So we "kind of" invented it ;-) |

Not disappointed but curious. Why BRZ's acceleration numbers are relatively slow? | Wait4BRZ_STI? | BRZ First-Gen (2012+) -- General Topics | 46 | 04-10-2012 10:46 PM |
