Now there may be another Toyota sports car in the works with BMW coming soon but that will be separate from the 86/FR-S/BRZ line.
Yeh I know they Subaru makes the engine. But they can retool for assembly in Germany or use a Toyota line and ship the engines to Japan for the line. Whatever meets their profit margins they will do. My opinion is to just ship engines to Japan. Seems easier than retooling a plant they don't need to. That's if BMW is even involved. Also it could be an all aluminum engine to help with lower COG. You never know what kind of engine could be developed for possible future use, if any, by Toyota and BMW

Certain people seem unwilling to remember one of the main goals of this car: decent performance at a low-ish pricepoint. Putting a BMW engine into this equation is illogical.

It was not ever meant to be the best at anything, I think the fact that it is pretty damn good the WAY IT IS should make people happy, but then, when are humans EVER happy?

Take the extra $5k they would charge you to build the car with 50-100 extra horsepower, and DO IT YOURSELF. As has been stated numerous times, by numerous people who are not blind to the obvious.

Basically, "I want a Porsche Cayman S for $25,000". Keep dreamin', or find one with a salvage title.

Very true, they could still buy engines from Subaru or stay on the same track in the same assembly plant, who knows..good points. I found that BMW does make a water cooled boxer engine shown in their BMW Group website. It is for motorcycles and is a flat 2cyl, but im sure they can weld together 2 more cylinders..lol Here's a pic and link. It's called the K-50 engine.

Forums are public bulletin boards for opinions like.... "I think the Subaru engine era for the 86 is over. Seems like BMW may be in the next model year FR-S." It's just wishful thinking but not counting on it. Relax man.

Actually this has been beaten to death a month or two ago and subaru announced they were having no issues and they would be mortified if that split were to take place......

Don't buy it in june, better wait for the 2016 at that point! Or better wait for the power bump in 2017! Or better wait for the 2017 power bump kinks to be ironed out and get the much reliable 2018!
