Dude you're so funny. I'm sure I'll sell her on low CoG, and FR format. I was even willing to spend more on the BRZ for the interior comforts just to keep her happy.

Marloon,

If you're keeping the Elantra I would suggest you take a used Miata out for a test drive, it seems to be very comparable to the FRS and since you have 4 door already, you've got your utility sorted out.

Also, if you're gonna go with the FRS you could try negotiating by email. I find email to be the best method for myself.

Tell her all the blood, sweat and tears that have been poured into this car by my Japanese cousins. Tell her that not getting this car is a Major slap in the face to my ancestors. Tell her about your big boner for the car too.

You should leave the boner part out, wouldn't want to make her even more jealous. In fact you should use reverse psychology on her. Make the car seem really crappy and not important to you do she doesn't feel threatened

The Miata NA is a very nice car though I'll be honest. I'll have a ton of room for mods and even a paint job. LOL.

I'll negotiate with her by face. JK LOL.

That's okay you can nurse her back to health and no one will know.

I'll keep a secret. Promise!

Did you show her both BRZ and FRS?

UPDATE
---------

Let's talk about options to make the car more tangible so i can really have both cars without really hitting the wallet that hard.

NOTES:
- Keeping the elantra for the fall/winter/utility/milage taker
- Buying an FR-S for Occasional driving only: It will sit inside the car port when it rains and I will only full tank it once or twice /mo: 400-800km/mo

2012 HYUNDAI ELANTRA GLS:
- Car payments: 340.30/mo for 50 more months. Purchased at 3.95% for 60/84. Owe 22 757.06 on the car still.
- Insurance: 223.45/mo (anniversary date on August 15, 2012 - will move down to 20%)
- Gas cost: $145-226 mo on average.
- Monthly milage: 1000km - 1800km/mo
Total running cost/mo: 789.75/mo

2013 SCION FR-S:
- Car payments:
- 36 mo/2.7%: 867.14
- 48 mo/3.7%: 672.31
- Insurance: Will be insured for 3 months until anniversary date and then taken up again on the anniversary date. - will need a insurance quote from broker.
- Gas cost: 2 full tanks max/mo: 160 based on 50L tank on premium chevron gas @ 1.60/L
Total running cost/mo: 1277.14/mo for 36 months.

Total running cost for both cars: 2066.89/mo. I just have to make sure that I work at least 7 to 8 shifts per month.

Options:
- Focus on accelerating one payment at a time which one should that be?
- Dump a huge down payment on the FRS now and then focus on accelerating the payments on the Elantra right away until finished. When finished, accelerate the FRS payments.
- If all else fails, sell the elantra and buy the FR-S. If i really need utility, I can buy a Sonata 2.0T when it gets redesigned for 2014. (I really don't want the FR-S to take the milage)

At least one of the two of you has some sense... best you hold on to her or you'll part with a few paycheques for some magic beans

I really want to do the FR-S because of the lower interest rate but I really dont want to put so much milage on the car.

From a money standpoint, accelerate whichever one will collect more interest on it. At this point i'd say the hyundai is going to cost more on interest, based on the LONG terms. BTW, what are the terms for this 60/84?

Your fuel costs in the FRS will be ~75% differed/offset by the fact that when you're driving the FRS, you're NOT driving the Elantra. The 75% is based on fuel economy differences. So if you've spent $100 on gas in the FR-S, that's 75$ that would've been spent on the hyundai.

I'm glad you know about the anniversary dates..good on ya.

Also, i've tried 3 times now (including this afternoon) to get ICBC quotes for both/either car. They say they will likely not have rates UNTIL the first person buys/insures the car, Then ICBC will calculate the appropriate rate AFTER. I've been told the insurance is Comparable to a GC 2.0t. The BRZ will be SLIGHTLY more than the FR-S initially, because of a different rate group, but that can change fast.
