Anyone heard of this? They are like twice the weight of the Subaru one apparently and clean more effectively. I will be running Mobil1 which I picked up at crappy tire for $33 a jug
What's the parts number for the FRS-specific filters?

Anyone have experience with Richmond Hill Subaru? Gotta take my car in for its first oil change and not sure if I should take it to the dealer or somewhere else

Wow that's a hell of a lot cheaper than what I used to have to pay at BMW

Last filter I bought from Toyota was a blue one made in Taiwan, not a Tokyo Roki. Somehow I doubt they're better. Will stick with Tokyo Roki from Subaru from now on, they are cheaper too.

Put Toyota 0W20 in the FR-S (~$30/jug) and Castrol Syntec 5W30 in the WRX.

These are more durable which prevents paper deformation during repeatedly high rpm operations and high heat:

I'd like to see an internal comparison of these to the converntional dark coloured Subaru filters with the stars all over them.

If the Tokyo Roki or any other OEM type filter failed to perform it's function for most applications I could see the need for a higher performance filter. But, for most people and typical operating temperatures these filters are probably only good for one thing...draining your wallet more.

In racing conditions with prolonged elevated temperatures people use better oil such as Redline, so then perhaps this is something to consider. For the rest probably not.

I found the exact opposite with parts. Any time I've called a Toyota dealership it's 5+ days. Subaru has had them in stock, and for less.

What's the parts # on that?

Last time I went to Subaru, they gave me the skinny blue one. And the oil change was, indeed, messy.

So I went to Toyota the next time. And didn't check the box before leaving. They gave me the same one.

Sigh.

From the picture looks like, http://www.sti.jp/parts/catalogue/impreza_gjgp/ST15208ST000.html, but says for Impreza.

Make sure you get the fat one, Tokyo Roki #15208-AA130 I believe. The skinny tall one AA150, is a mess to deal with.

We get the 0w20 from Esso. They are dirt cheap since we get them by the drum. However i do not trust the boys in our shop working on my car.

You guys realize you are buying oil that hurts your engine for the sake of economy right?
I only use diesel truck oil its great if you spend all day at 8000 rpm. Mind you i don't drive in the winter.
