Aside from the oil change which should be $60. They charge you an extra $60 for "Lubricating" all the hinges, "test" driving your car, and checking air pressure/suspension.... Easily done by yourself in half an hour or less

I think a bottle of Subaru 0W-20 Idemitsu Made in USA oil is at least 10 bucks + tax IIRC. |

I did my own oil and filter change before I went and had my first 10,000km A service done at Scarbro and my final bill was only $33. All they asked was that I had a receipt for the oil and filter.

When I went in for my first service I was a bit nervous only because I have had some bad experiences with the GM dealerships I had to deal with in the past. While they wouldn't let me follow my baby into the shop to keep an eye on it. They did their best to reassure me that it was in good hands. Will I go back Yes. will I completely trust anyone with my car.... not likely. Understand that I will only take in my vehicle for service while I'm able to be at the shop every minute it's there. I also told them no test drives unless I'm going along with them.

Bought 6 Tokyo Roki filters for about $36USD on Amazon.
Did the oil change at Scarborough Toyota/Scion for under $60 total. Subaru wanted $130 to change oil and do other "service checks" that were not necessary. |

Link to the filters? That seems like a good price.

![]() I've read there are only 2200 BRZ cars in Canada. But I think they just work on any car the same way (the Subaru technical manual shows step by step on how to work on various things on the car). |

If you're near igarage, Ivan sells them at $6-7/ea for the filters, but last time I bought from him they weren't the Tokyo Roki ones I believe. Was the tall thin ones (which I don't recommend using, last oil change was really messy) but you might be able to let him know to stock the fat one ***150A or something?
I bought new ones from Subaru dealership for $7-8~, don't need to deal with shipping and USD. |

Did they need you to indicate how many kilometres the oil change was done at? |

They didn't ask. But I did a change at 5000 km and my second the day before going in for my 10000 km service. I will be following the recommended oil and filter service interval from here on. My first early change was just to be cautious about any oil contamination from the breakin period.

Just went to Toyota and purchased oil filters and rings. The filters were 9$e I paid around $25 for all with the Enviro tax. I was talking to the parts guy...he said Toyota has their own filters for the FRS now, and are even higher quality. They are made at a Toyota factory in Taiwan.
Anyone heard of this? They are like twice the weight of the Subaru one apparently and clean more effectively. I will be running Mobil1 which I picked up at crappy tire for $33 a jug
