Lol, this kinda makes you wonder how much money they actually saved by removing the push button from the FR-S. Well to be honest it was probably coupled with other stuff like automatic AC.

For those of you who are worrying about the possibility of someone hoping in your car and driving away, just get the smart keyless entry by itself. It's only $190 and you get all the convinience, without having to worry about someone else starting your engine.
I'm probably going to get the keyless entry with the auto window closer, cause I love the physical feed back you get when you turn the key when starting your car. Pushing a button to start the car kinda desensitize it for me. |

I was looking around youtube and I found this, it kinda does the same thing as this alarm but it has more features for around the same price.

the ST-800 is made in Korea...and the parts are not of high quality customer service is pretty much non-existent...and I hear the 2-way remote has a poor battery life....it lasts about 2 days before you have to recharge |

This part is avaialable seperately from the entire HVAC panel, so the only thing im not sure of is if its the same part# as the Subaru one. If it is then you can just order from any US subaru dealer since that option is available. If not then we can order these from Japan. you can see the part here in this pic, its highlighted in blue. you can see that it is seperate from the hvac controls

My wife's Prius has the OEM proximity/push button and I'm still not used to it yet. I always want to turn a key when I turn off the car. The system is pretty awesome, and it makes you want everything else to be keyless; like your house and work.
It might have been said already but I think an OEM proximity entry and push button start will be WAY too expensive on it's own. Just the key is between $200-300. Figure the cost of dealer parts and labor (even by a stereo shop) and I'd assume you'd be looking at at least $1000-$2000. It makes the Advanced Keys system look like a steal. If the OEM one could be done for under $1000 (like if I do the work myself) I'd strongly consider it... |
