Question: When a group w/ 86 cup drivers is awarded the Bonus Tow session does it count toward official scoring?

Had a great weekend, thanks everyone who was hanging out! It was great meeting everyone (I'm Nick, in the blue BRZ #138 w/black enkeis). Maybe next time I won't boil my brake fluid so quickly

Who's going to be at Laguna?

We chatted about this on sat. I believe Jessie's policy is that if ncrc records the times for that session it counts.

I snooped by the paddock to check out all the modified 86s. I was running over on the west side with a small group for my first ever track day. Needless to say I am hooked and will likely join you guys on an outing in the future.

Hmmm ... ok. Maybe i'm making too many assumptions here as I thought this would operate like the Chrono Series (or at least how the Chrono Series used to) where the 1st session was practice, 2nd session was qualifying for grid order, and the next 3 sessions are scored. Not sure if bonus tow is scored or not in Chrono.

Are we saying that every single session is scored for 86 cup?

Not trying to debate and/or change anything ... just trying to understand if I made faulty assumptions

Per the first post

NCRC will have 5 sessions (~20 min each session). This is the time when "YOU" or your wrist band color is allowed on the track. Here are the sessions for the 86CUP Challenge:
Session 1: NOT a recorded session.
Session 2: Recorded session! Fastest lap counts.
Session 3: Recorded session! Fastest lap counts.
Session 4: Recorded session! Fastest lap counts.
Session 5: NOT a recorded session.

@MyRx can clarify if this has changed

Timing changed with the NCRC and I started receiving an entire day's worth of lap times. Ciphering thru, I noticed our 86Cup drivers had better and better times towards the end of the day, a couple had their best times on the last session (5th and/or Bonus session). Perhaps lesser traffic or they really picked up their game. Nonetheless, previous timing only had the middle sessions, current timing, has all the sessions. Didn't want to upset the individuals' attempt to improve, so we (I) counted what NCRC recorded.

Not debating either and I meant to say hi to you on Saturday but we are a young group, with few participants who would opt to keep it fun than to keep it stringent. I also would like to keep the workload on NCRC easier, so if he forgets to turn off the amb for our group going into the 5th or Bonus, I think we can live that

Speaking of Chrono series, having spoken to Dave this wknd, 2015 will have some changes. Invisible to the our participants and a little leg work in the beginning for me. But that too, I will live thru.

Thanks for joining us this wknd

And for showing up haha
You guys make it possible! You guys (we) just accepted a different way to share our results. You guys were already tracking your cars before THIS ever existed.

I have nothing against us adapting to some changes. If anyone does, let's discuss it openly or in private.

I would really hate to be the bad guy to tell the driver that his second to the last lap of the 5th session is his best time, BUT sorry cannot be counted. It's happened before and it happened again this past wknd.

Having said that tho, I did notice a non-PointBy participant having a transponder. He and I spoke and he assured me the transponder rental was for his own benefit - to track his progress starting this weekend. And not for the the 86Cup. So that rule we cannot change due to the nature of things - Point By and Open drivers only. I do wish he will come out with this group more often, talented individuals with a lot to share. And coincidently having the same cars as he.

I've always found that the 5th or last session is always my fastest and Sat was no different. I think you are correct that by the last session drivers have had a chance to step up their game and make their adjustments. Also, I think it's also that the track surface is a little cooler (but still warm) and the tires don't have to fight heat as much allowing them more traction and higher cornering speeds.

I left after the 5th session assuming bonus wouldn't be scored but knowing that i'd likely pull my fastest time out of that session. No biggie tho cuz I was just there for the fun of it... and it was definitely fun
