No modification? $2k Track package..
i think hes saying that streets is a track where power is almost void. ive been around that in a near stock ae86 stuck between 2 evos. im not a good driver or anything. i would rather have the frs but the mustang wins in almost every objective category while being cheaper so i dont know where people are seeing this as a frs win

How is that a modification? That's the car STOCK. You just get to have a choice if that's important to you or not.

The Mustang tested was $30k because it has a $2k Track package on it. It won at this track. But I would be certain that time can be made up in tires alone. Maybe removing the spare tire.

Hmmm know what? Good catch on the fuel mileage. I was wrong about that I'll admit it, I just remember seeing the v6 stang got 31highway and thought "legit, they pulled some good fuel mileage out of that six". Didn't know that was only for the auto and I also didn't know it averaged out that low. Hell I won't lie to you, I almost never pay close attention to fuel mileage when I purchase cars (the way I drive I don't come close to their numbers anyway)

Never said the driveshaft would add horsepower (the v6 has enough of that anyway, there aren't many six's on the market at the moment that beat it. Not to say that there aren't any, there just aren't many.), what I was trying to imply was that you go from a 115mph limiter to upwards of 140.. probably upwards of 150mph. But like I said before, you probably won't be on a straight long enough to hit those speeds for very long anyway, if at all.

I get what you're trying to say with horsepower gains compared to vehicle weight, but what I'm trying to say is that hp gains aren't linear. Lets take your intake example, the simple fact is a bigger motor will need to breathe more so an intake might get you 5-6 with the BRZ/FRS, get you 8-9 with the v6 stang, and net you 11-12 with the v8.

About the pistons and valves, you can't say that for sure. It's not always true. I know I pull out the "buddy of mine" or "my brother" or "my friend" thing often but I know a LOT of gear heads, I come from a family of gear heads and got my Bachelors in Business/Automotive (like a BT is even impressive these days) from the best automotive school on the east coast; but we'll take one of my friends for example: 07 GT paid a little over 600 for his forged rings and pistons, whereas I've heard supra ring/piston kits on average run you a little under 800 (Now I could be completely wrong about the cost of supra pistons, we only had one at our school and it was a beat to piss MKIII. The suspension, brakes and tires are give-in's. But for what it's worth I live in the city, you'd be lucky if you could make all of those last a year here with our roads and traffic (I'm assuming you meant strictly track application, too many extraneous factors in the real world).

Well I never said his foxbody would be at the strip all day for 5k, just saying that he did it. Aside from that at least I know now what you were incorporating in your built costs, but I still feel like those figures are going to end up being a lot closer than you're estimations (I.E. fully built I expect the BRZ/FRS will end up being close to 40k. I won't argue the 42k mark for the stang.) Edit: I just saw their build price for the stang. They went with the v6 premium, Track pack + Recaro's puts you at 26.5k with the non-premium v6, making it likely the cheapest of the three after delivery.

Lastly, you can DEFINITELY fit all that + a Beer cooler in the stang.

Oh so you consider it to be stock? So if you add performance options to the BRZ then its still otherwise stock since those options came from the dealer?

167 each thats almost 200 bucks less... my tires would have to go out in 5000 miles to get better value per set... lol

Initial Review, 1,008 Miles on Tires

I'm in love with these tires. At the skidpad, I was able to hit 1.28 G's, and it might have been higher, as the Corvette G meter maxes out at 1.28 G's. Awesome tire that I will definitely purchase again. I rated the "WET" portion of this review as 5, as I haven't had the opportunity to drive with these tires in wet conditions and normally don't drive the Corvette in the rain.
Gotta love small tires. Dont even feel bad when you beat the shit out of them. Also makes getting winter tires more pleasant.

Not in my book. It came that way...but because there is a choice to buy the car without said mods then I consider it to be modded.

You can get a TRD Supercharger for an FJ Cruiser from the dealer too, I would not consider that a stock FJ.

For the price of a brz + engine swap., youd be into the 5.0 gt Mustang territory for sure. 500 bucks for an intake and tune and the Mustang would be pumping 450 easy. It would probably be the same story again as thebrz boxer vs v6 mustang

The BRZ/FRS just continue to look more and more sexy! The Mustang, well its not my cup of tea.

What I would really like to see is the GC 2.0T R-spec vs the BRZ/FRS to finally clear that chapter for some people.

I don't care which car is faster, just which one puts the biggest smile on my face and smallest dent in my pocket.

Interesting cause on Fords site, a GT is $30,995 starting MSRP. So you can get $4,000 dollars less for a GT? Says Premium V6 is MSRP $26,895.
