I just ordered these:
PWR 280x150x19mm with 3/8" fittings http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/111476265154 3m (18 ft) of 3/8" hose http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/160794687728 I think I'll fit the cooler and hoses then go to a transmission shop to make the final connection and maybe flush with new OEM ATF. I've done a couple of track days and a few skid pans where I've ended up facing backwards and stalled about 10-15 times.

I have a vortech and I have already placed my oil cooler in front of my intercooler. If I add an AT cooler, I do not want to block more of the IC. Would a 7 row make a difference in cooling? Should I just add another 13 row AT cooler? Fog light area is a no go because of the IC piping.

That would help some but you'd have to deal with some heat soak from the IC if you mount it all together. You sure the IC piping is blocking the whole fog light area?
You could also look into the kits like cusco and try mounting it in the back. |

I've seen those. There was also some discussion here about tube and fin vs bar and plate and it being more a matter of preference and fitment. That looks like it would fit, but I share your concern about the lack of direct air flow.
You'd be getting a lot more heat soak in stop and go and may reduce air flow for your snorkel a bit. Did you look at the design behind the cusco cooler? Could do a DIY for that. There's another made in Japan that's rear mounted but with a metal shield and air funnel. Can't remember the brand. It's in these forums somewhere. |

Yeah I saw the one with the metal ducting but that one is a diff cooler. Thanks for the cusco suggestion, I think that would work. I'll look into that location. Do you think that area has more airflow than the crash beam area?

Then up above the crash beam I think it may be a better choice. But just thought about if you live in a snow region. Would need to make sure you mount it well.

Thanks for the input. Haha no snow for us over here. I think the tube and fin cooler would be the cleanest and easiest install.

Agree with you there. Could it be upside down on the crash beam maybe? Then it could still get some more direct air flow

When you add a cooler, do you add the same oil volume as the cooler + extra hoses?
Or do you add no extra oil? When it's cold, does the oil from the cooler and lines drain into the oil pan or stay where it is? |

You need to add more fluid to account for the extra volume. The fluid in the hoses won't drain back on its own but that's the same problem with or without the added cooler. That's why you sometimes do a flush vs a drain and fill

That's good that it doesn't drain, I would imagine all that fluid draining back and flooding the box would be bad.

Excellent thread and work here @Sithspawn. It's practically convinced me to look into a cooler and logging the temps as I had no idea they'd get that high. In your track testing, how long would you say it took between sessions for the temps to return to normal?
