The popping on cold start can be normal if fuel has ethanol in it.

But here's the thing, It didn't occur on a cold start, nor did I ever tell the dealer that. It happened waiting for a traffic light. When the light changed, I stabbed the throttle, revs jumped to about 3-4k and POP. Both times it happened were almost identical scenarios. The engine was slightly warmed. I was able to drive out of the parking garage and down a few blocks in rush our light to light. I would say the engine was already running for at least a good 5 minutes minimum before it occurred. Ambient temperature was about 70 degrees maybe.

Is that still technical considered a cold start? The engine was not cold or starting.

I am not arguing, I'm just saying the whole thing is suspect.

So far if you have this issue, it'll be there all the time unless it is starting to become that.
But yeah, warranty is your friend if that is the case.

You mean the stock ecu? Nope.. above 4000 RPMs it runs quite rich. Factory adds more fuel in high RPMs for protecting the motor generating high temperatures and dangerous knocking. Tuners always changing these AFM ratios and run leaner ..

Then what what was the issue with the factory tune? Was it timing?

Yes, they removed a bit of timing in the specific conditions.

Has there been a fix to this yet? One of the reasons why I'm hesitant to go to the track often is this issue might haunt me after warranty is over.

I'm pretty sure there was a software update as long as you have the latest tsbs and firmware in your good, also allot of the aftermarket tunes had corrected the issue before the OEM

Mine has about 20 hours of track time (about 14 on the stock tune), and with all the other track junkie 86s in the NW we have more than 150 hrs of track time without a single failure I am aware of.

Will Wet Trace around the injectors show if a DI seal has failed?

I stumbled across a post where someone listed some aftermarket seals for the DI's. I can't for the life of me find the link again. It was from a Japanese company. Anyone had any experience with those seals? Are they any better than the OEM ones?
