We may need to see few more extra pics OP, just to make a solid judgment.

LOL tire repair.

Problem is you do not know exactly how the tire's been compromised. If it's severed a cord or merely went between them. How many cords were severed, or how much load those cords bear. While sure, you may plug the tire and it may be okay, you're still taking a risk that the tire will fail while driving.

The only 100% sure way to know that a tire will hold up (barring any issues from defects) is to get a new tire. Since it's rather new, you should only need to replace one tire instead of both L/R tires, but that also depends on the treadwear of the opposite tire.

Your call OP. My advice is to just get a new tire/tires, then get road hazard warranty on said tire/tires so you never have to worry about this stuff again.

I see these are NT05's. Do you plan to track or autocross with these tires at all??

Even if technically repairable, I would not track on a tire that had been punctured on the outer tread block like that. That's usually the part of the tread where chunking occurs. If the repaired part of the tire chunked or gave out as you were loaded up in a corner, and you suddenly lost all tire pressure, you could be in real trouble.

From the very site you linked to:

And from Tire rack:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete...jsp?techid=187

"Repair of any punctures in the shoulder and sidewall areas is not permitted."

"This tire has been punctured through the shoulder area long enough ago for part of the nail head to have worn away. Since the puncture is outside the permitted repair area, this tire must be replaced."

AND the fact that the bolt in the OPs tire appears to be at least a 1/4", then it cannot be repaired "By industry guidelines".

"Guidelines allow the repair of punctures in a tire's tread area of up to 1/4" in diameter. Repair of larger tread punctures and of punctures to the tire's shoulder and sidewall areas are not recommended."

So based on the above, I would say that the tire repair place will NOT repair that puncture, especially if it is a speed rated tire AND the fact that the OP drove on it like that.

What's funny is that your suggestion is in no way a "properly plugged tire".
For a tire to be "properly repaired" it must be demounted. Period.
What you suggest is just for side of the road repairs to get you to a tire shop.

Repairs are for the tread area only. You're within the tread area. You can see the line in the rubber. That screw looks to be less than 1/4" in diamter. Not big at all. Go to America's Tires. They'll probably fix it right, and possibly for free. Nitto even has guidelines about the tire's speed rating after repair. You'll be sad to know that your tires will likely only be good for 130mph.
Considering three different reputable tire businesses gave me the same answer, I'm inclined to believe them. Was it frustrating that I had to replace 3 tires in a 4 month period? Yes it was. However, if you can't afford a new tire then you can't afford this car not to mention the safety concerns for yourself and others on the road should you decide to drive on a questionable tire that isn't replaced or repaired properly.

Certainly you could have had severely damaged tires, but the law and 2 inch rule are make-believe.

Tires have been patched for quite a long time. I might not track on patched tires, but for the road they're fine ad long as the structure isn't compromised. Those DRM rules look pretty darn conservative and yet his screw is within the main tread so it's fine on that count.
