If one were driving it normally, regular care will make the car last a long time. If one were to drive it aggressively or take it to high RPMs often, you'd need things like oil coolers, catch cans, etc to improve longevity. Mods need to reflect the owner and the driving conditions, it should not reflect a glaring need on the car. -alex |

Changing the oil filter is more important than changing the oil itself. I know someone that runs oil analysis and redline oil that changes the filter ever 5K miles, takes the oil sample, and then tops the oil back off. He's done this for a few years now and the oil analysis still shows the oil is fine. Not in this car, but you get the point. Also oil change interval was changed to 6K miles for 2015. Quote:
Lets be honest here, the car is a performance focused sports car, it's GOING to be driven aggressively. This isn't a Camry... |

And I do know two original owners of a Nissan 240SX, both bought by ladies in their early 20s who still own the same car 20+ years later. Neither one of them is driven hard and I can see tons of young adults driving this car daily without pushing it. Or just look at all the original owners of a Miata. There's a lot of them as well. -alex |

It's early here...but are people really arguing an aftermarket tune helps the longevity of the engine?
What is this I don't even....

So unless you want blown DI seals, you need to get a tune that corrects the problem. Toyota will fix the 2013 FR-Ss, SOA will not. |

Stay stock and follow the user manual's suggestions. No tuner or after market company has tested their changes in your car like the factory. They don't care so much, because they don't have a warranty to chase them. Even if they wanted to test, they don't have the resources to do so.

I disagree. As one poster said maintain your car properly according to your service manual with only oem or better than oem products. My previous car went well over 100k and was hammered a lot. Not one issue with the engine. Oh yeah I did keep it stock besides an air filter. |
