Debating on which car to buy FRS or EVO 8/9 (NJ)
It is what the title says
I saw some threads where people don't regret going from an evo to the frs. I waited out the options for both and this is what I came up with. If I get the frs I will get one hat is a rebuilt(body damage such as a quarter panel being hit etc), its gonna be difficult to drive during the winter, would have to get a kit for FI(was looking at some kits) I would want a kit capable of 400 hp also a new clutch but would only tune to 350hp or so for now. Also if I get one it would come not abused as finding an evo that is in good mechanical condition and no mods is hard. If I get the evo its awd and little to no problem in the winter. Can get to 400 hp without worrying so much about the engine blowing up. Its already turbo'ed, has 4 doors. Love both cars but I need to decide which one to go with(still looking at both) Any insight is greatly appreciated |

EVO 8/9 : powerful, turbo, easily made faster, awd, less reliable, old, likely beat to hell, boy racer looks, fun to drive
FRS: light, rwd, new, more reliable, good looking, fun to drive, sits lower, feel better connected, has potential

Just get the Evo. If you want power then this isn't the car for you, plus the Evo will achieve it more easily and reliably. Turbo-ing a car that isn't boosted from the factory as a daily driver becomes a huge pain in the ass.

I had an EVO 8 with 384wheel hp and went to this. I can honestly say I don't regret the decision at all. This however is based on my preference.

We have had a string of original owner Evo 8's and 9's here lately for tuning/service and I must say if you have the money to dish out for an unmolested one, it is definitely an incredible ride. But they are older and the interiors are spartan at best. Drive both and see what you prefer. I would only buy one if I could also keep my FRS as well. They would compliment each other so well.

they are literally two completely different cars, they don't drive the same, they don't handle the same.
so you should ask yourself, do you want a car you can DRIVE or a car that for the most part drives for you. the Evo is a great car, but they are two different realms of car. i came from and Sti, every bolt on, DO NOT miss the power or the car. brz is much more rewarding to drive, even being underpowered. if all you want to do is claim a HP number, or go fast straight, do not buy a twin. |

Get the evo. I own a BRZ and I own two evos (an 9 and a 10). Get the evo for NJ. The BRZ is fantastic in the summer, fall spring. But in the winter, its utterly useless.

And when it snows here it lasts for max 2 days (usually melts by 3pm the next day after the snow falls), I would run winter tires as well and usually when we get the big snowstorms I don't leave my home |
