I feel the need for Google translator but those words look familiar.

Sorry, but this was really hard to understand.

So i was talking to my friend last night and he said new cars are normaly based on what the car is compeating against, on the average cost of repair of other cars by the same company. The cost will change in the second year after they have more data.

The xx are changed but you can enter in any 2 digits and it should be a legitimate Canadian VIN #.
Is that a BRZ VIN?

Yes, Canadian Sport Tech BRZ minus the xx. I assume you can put a couple characters (numbers not letters) and have it work.

They should be able to quote you off the Make/Model if it's in their system though.

Just got a "rough" quote from my provider:

I'm 28, Male, Single (engaged), no infractions and I live in Toronto. I drive 4kms to work, and annually about 20,000. For $2M liability coverage with $300 deductibles my annual policy came out around $2,700 or $225/month.

I'm pretty happy with this quote - it's only about $10/month more than my IS was.

This quote isn't final either - just a baseline calculated from basic car specs (FR-S wasn't in their system yet). I'll post up my final price when I get it.

was that full or one way?

my specs are pretty much the same as yours, 2700 is resonable if its full coverage

who is your provider?

i currently pay 2400 a year one way for my 2001 RS with The Dominion, my insurance expires at the end of May (coincidence? hahaha)

What do you mean "one way"?

I'm with Johnson Insurance Co. (they underwrite for Unifund). I'd be happy to put you in touch with my broker - PM me if interested.

i have a broken, i gave her all the info just waiting for a callback

also not all brokers deal with all insurance companies.

i'm going to call RBC and Desjardins independently a bit later

"one way" means when you opt out of "collision" coverage.

meaning that if your car is damaged in a traffic incident, your repair costs are not covered by your insurance.

they are covered, however, by the other person's insurance, assuming that you are not at fault.

i've been driving without collision coverage for over 7 years and doing okay, but i drive old shitty cars, will probably grab collision coverage for the FRS.

I probably shouldn't have said "broker", she works for Johnson and is my rep/account handler.

This coverage is definitely including collision.

Contacted ICBC (British Columbia) today and still nothing in their system. Had tried 2 weeks ago as well.

Oh well, will try in another 2 weeks.

Any provinces that have both cars in their system yet?

Quebec : I got my quote for the BRZ, I know they had the FRS too, but I made my choice and didn't ask the price

If you can set it on fire, and be like "Oh well, whatever" then you don't need collision. Ie, a 500$ beater. But if it's even a 5K car and you would be hurt/crying if it went poof, then get collision. Also, if you're financing it in any way you have no choice - full coverage. Get gap insurance as well. This covers you for the replacement cost of the car vs the book value (think 1st year depreciation)
