Some of us did buy a faster car previously. Adding power is easy, finding a chassis that weighs 2700 lbs is much harder.

Well and keep in mind Mazda did extend the warranty on the RX-8 to 96 months and 100K miles. I have owned 3 RX-7's and can attest that rotary engines are high maintenance. But I had all of my original rotaries go over 100K miles without drama. You just get used to checking your oil once a week and adding as needed. I suspect a lot of failed rotaries are coming from people used to low maintenance engines where you can go 3-7K miles without adding a drop of oil.

I mean when all things consider (cost, weight, handling, ability to fit 4 wheels for track days etc..)I've also owned way faster cars (and bikes) also.. There are still some little issues with the twins even after FI but those are not as big as the other cars in the market IMO.. if they offered a 250 whp BRZ at higher cost I would get that instead of course

Lol, LaFerrari is considerably heavier than the FRS. Way more than 100!

Regular Boxster is 2890, FRS is about 2800. Boxster Spyder is the lightest Porsche in recent times, clocking in at 2811 claimed. |

well here you go...

The curb weight of the 2012 Porsche Boxster is 2,943 lbs. even the 2014 boxster-s is 2910 and 2976 respectively for stick and pdk for 2014, so it's still 150-225 lbs heavier... http://www.porsche.com/usa/models/bo...turesandspecs/ boxster spyder 2011 Curb weight, as tested (lbs.) 2,908 http://www.edmunds.com/porsche/boxst...est-specs.html The frs is 2754 btw, not 2800... Anyways they're pretty close. The Boxster Spyder definitely makes the cut (though it does cost 2 times the BRZ). With smaller wheels you could definitely get the base Cayman MT within 100 lbs of a BRZ Limited. Porsche wheels are ridiculously fat and heavy. |
