Le pain!!!

Holy crap man!

I pay $116/mo for the Cayman S ($250 collision deduct, $0 comprehensive deduct) and GS-R (no collision, $0 comprehensive) with $1,000,000 medical liability as well. And I also have 3 insurance points from an accident 2 1/2 years ago.

Guess, as with almost all things in CA, the insurance companies like to screw you over as well.

*when I had my BRZ it was about $80 less per year than Porsche.

...I currently pay $220 a month to insure my S2000. lol.

It really depends on the city you live in, your age, and your driving record.

True that.

As to the original topic of the thread, I just want to add that no matter what you do to modify an FT86, it's engine and transmission will never be as good as those of the S2000.

I looked at the bill again...it's closer to $80/month for the CR. I'm going to go punch something now.

It seems a high majority of 86 owners wish to go FI. Why didnt you buy a faster car to begin with?

It's not easy finding cars that drive like the Twins, but are faster without a big jump in price. In my experience, the next faster coupe that offers similar lightweight feel, feedback, and balance of the Twins is the Cayman S.

Just by way of background, I've owned or test-driven:

- Cayman S (test-driven 2x, also owned a 2009 Boxster S)
- 350z (owned)
- STI (owned)
- 370z (test-driven 2x)
- Mustang GT (test-driven 2x)
- Evo (test-driven X GSR and IX MR)
- M3 (E36 track ride-along - coilovers, BBK, track tires)
- C7 Corvette (track ride-along - stock)
- RX-8 (track ride-along - springs, track tires)

The RX-8 is kind of similar, but only marginally faster and comes with the typical rotary quirks (poor fuel economy, reliability concerns, oil consumption, etc).

An S2000 coupe would have been ideal, but Honda never made it. As a consolation prize, you can buy a new $25k FR-S, put $3k into it, and make 190+ whp fairly easily with H/OP/FP/tune. Poor man's S2000 coupe. Or put $6-7k into it and make 250-300 whp with FI. Will need supporting mods to track with the latter though.

Id rather drive a tractor than the RX8. God I hate that car. Not that I mind the 86's are "slow". Driving it, it certainly doesnt feel slow. Its just seems many, many owners plan on boosting it for more power. Which is ironic.

Yeah re. RX-8's, I also wasn't that impressed with them on paper, but they come alive at the track. Maybe a little soft, but very well balanced... similar to a BRZ in that way. Just have to keep the engine in the 7000-9000 RPM happy zone.

Rotary issues aside, please explain your hatred for this car. No one has ever called it's handling anything but exemplary.
