Dr. Colorchip?

Someone on another forum mentioned using Dr. Colorchip and some touchup paint to fix this. Anybody have experience with this product?

My kit is slated to arrive tomorrow, I will do some before and after's in a few days.

I used it on my Fiat to fix a few rock chips. Perfect match, was easy to use, and I'd recommend it. It's more expensive than the typical auto parts store or dealer pens, but it'll give you a better result too most likely.

Used it on a few cars, much better than touch up paint to fix smaller rock chips, just follow instructions. It seems odd at first to smudge the paint over the chip with the glove (you would never want to touch regular touch-up paint after initial application), but the milky solution applied with provided cloth in the second step removes excess paint well, leaving the chip covered. It takes just a little practice and it's easy to remove completely and redo if needed.

Worked good enough. Tri-coat white metallic is incredibly difficult to match perfectly. Overall it's good enough, nothing fantastic like new, but it works.

Any metallic or pearl is going to be hard to match because the flop will be different.

This stuff works great for the front bumper. I had about 75 small rock chips and I was able to fill them all in with this stuff. You can't even tell it was chipped! FYI I would recommend purchasing a larger removing solution as you will run out of that first before the touch up paint.

Still considering this, though there was a certain video where the guy got good results, but it bothered him that he didn't know exactly what the formula did, his question was "if it would weaken the clearcoat" or not.

Not sure exactly what chemicals the solution is made of or how close the colorchip paint matching is, or if it's even quality paint. None of this really matters I suppose, since you're just filling in stuff, but I'd hate to see a bad reaction if there was any.

There is no reason why it should weaken the surrounding clearcoat at all, the only issue you may run into is since it is not separated into a base coat and clear coat you may not see the same longevity as traditional paint. As for matching for standard base colors that are not tri-coat or tintcoat or heavy metallic colors it should be a near match if applied correctly.
