Colorchip vs paint pen

I have a few small scratches on my BRZ that I would like to get repaired before I get the car coated in CQ.

Looking around the forums, I've read good things about Dr. Colorchip, but I'm wondering how it compares to the touch up paint I can just pick up at the dealership. Mind you these are hair-thin scratches, no rock chips (yet).

Anyone have any experience with either?

If you're OCD, get it from dealer. How do these get applied? I'm still not sure how to properly use it..

How difficult is it to apply? I heard it looks excellent "when done correctly". All I have are a few small scratches, and I would prefer having tiny scratches to a blotch of paint on my bumper. I'd imagine the paint pens would be easy to apply but was curious how they compare.

The paint pen from the dealership sucks. The colors don't match well.

As easy as it gets, that's why people like it. You smear it on and let it sit then wipe off with the solution. reapply as necessary, doesn't get better than that.

I just got ColorChip in the mail this week. I used it on my rock ripped GTI and it worked wonders. Could not be easier to apply - go for it.

1 month in and I have my first battle scar (good sized chip). At least its against the glass on the roof so not easily noticed. Hooray winter ...
