Touch up paint using Dr.ColorChip Review
Just bought Dr.ColorChip to fix some of the road rashes I occur
over the past 5 months since this car is my DD. So i went around looking for a decent kit to use to repair it. I stumble across Dr.ColorChip from reading recommendation from other threads so I decided to give it a try. Ordered took less than a week to arrive so its fast shipping from vendor. ![]() Contents: ![]() Paint ![]() ![]() Chip: ![]() And so it begins: ![]() Result 1: ![]() I think one more coat: ![]() Not bad not bad: ![]() The process wasnt too bad. Follow the direction and just repeat if necessary. The color for whiteout is hard to match but it does pretty darn good job as you can see at the end. Keep in mind it is still a chip but less annoying everytime you do your daily walk to check your FRS out. ![]() The entire kit is a bit on the expensive side($50+ shipped) so therefore I would rate this as a 4/5. |

call me an asshole, but it doesn't look like that came out too great...like it matched very poorly. Am I wrong?
I have some chips myself I need to touch up. |

I have the Dr Colorchip system as well for my Raven car. It doesn't usually level the chipped area but it is efficient for multiple small chips. By no means are the results perfect, but it does enable you to get the paint on the chip while not leaving paint around the chip.

For those of you that haven't read any of my previous postings on touch up paint you can accomplish that with any touch up paint. Just use a tooth pick to apply the paint inside the chip and don't get any on the surrounding paint. It usually will take two or three applications to completely fill the chip. When it has built up, use a light compound or a polish to blend it in.

IMO it's best to build up the touch-up paint to a higher level than the surrounding clear, then wetsand to level, polish

Nah its cool I thought the same thing. Its not perfect like i mention earlier but if you step back a bit further than 2ft you wont even see it. Camera was less than 1 ft and I wanted to show what it looks like close-up.
