Mercedes E55 AMG...Fast..but not fast enough.

I've been in cars with both motors, and they're both beasts, just in different ways. But one thing that always seemed inaccurate was that a lot of reviewers would say that the 63s lacked torque, but that's not the case. It just didn't have the crazy torque (in terms of both peak torque and the torque curve) that the 55s had, but it was still VERY solid, as its various applications had peaks ranging from ~430 to ~480 lb-ft... definitely not what I'd consider lacking, especially when you compare it to what its direct competitors had in ANY class at those times. It was really just one motor in nearly all of Mercedes' lineup going against different motors in different segments (i.e. M3's 4.0-liter V-8, M5's 5.0-liter V-10, Lexus' 5.0-liter V-8, Audi's 4.2-liter V-8).


I have yet to sample the new 63s though, with the twin-turbos. And it's ironic, because now reviewers talk about how massive its torque curves are while saying that they miss the old 63's top end... MAKE UP YOUR MINDS!

Still in terms of having a 4 door SuperCar murder..... nothing compares to the new RS6's Avants.... whoever decided were are going to dump 575hp w/ 516 ft/tq into a 4WD station wagon was utterly mental and the fact it looks like it's going to eat you and your family

I'd bet they could still outgun the Charger Hellcats up until ~150mph because of the laters soon to be VERY apparent traction issues

Yeah, the fact that the manufacturer is talking about the Hellcat's drag times on slicks (which manufacturers rarely do) indicate to me that traction is going to be a problem. Not that I ever doubted it.

Below is a picture of his car with a few more modifications than when you met him as well as my red one just behind him. At that point he was very close to teens at Roebling. Note the 335 rears. Car was actually totaled a couple of years ago.
