![]() That's.... that's $30 to cover a tank of gas where if you had bought 93 or 91 in the first place it would have cost an extra what $6 at the absolute most? Just buy the right fuel to begin with... |

One thing I have noticed is that the 86 is VERY sensitive to bad gas! This happened to me once gassing up at Sam's club. Car ran like complete dog poo after. I ended up running the tank as dry as I could safely, dumped in some 108 Octane booster and filled up from my nearby, dependable Shell 93. Car was running normally by the end of that tank and has been fine since. Scott

Just to add to the discussion...
I've had my 2013 a few weeks, 32,000km, have had 2 tanks of chevron 94 (I'm in canada), no problems. I just filled up with shell 91 and I'm here doing searches for 'low power' and finding this thread. I did fill it up all the way to top (maybe too much?), and prior to filling up, I think I was starting to literally run out of gas (car felt funny, noticed I was at the absolute empty line). So either.... it didn't like me filling it up too high. it didn't like me letting it get so empty. it doesn't like the 91 shell. I find it hard to believe that you can't put 91 shell in this car without a noticeable loss in power... |

My FR-S runs noticeably better on 94 than Shell 91. I wouldn't say there is a big difference in power, but throttle response is better, and the car seems just a little more eager to pull through the RPMs.

This was immediately noticeable (within 5 minutes or so). I thought maybe I hadn't done the 5-sec traction push long enough because I first noticed it making tight right turns in first gear, and it felt similar to when the traction control is on. I mainly notice a lack of torque off idle/low rpms.

And I was just thinking... I don't know where you are but where I am we've been having 90° weather. High temperatures can always be a factor in performance. I use to love to run my Harley on cold October nights in upstate state New York. Seemed to have a bunch more horses on those cold nights. |
