Do you want a drop-top or a quick 0-60? Pick up a Boxster. Only have around 30K in your budget? BRZ. |

subaru brz 28k - 22k in mods with 22k you could make the brz a lot faster than a base boxter and have the same handling and better electric power steering feel... and back seats... lol

The only main different from modding yourself and factory is reliability issues. I think that no matter what you decide, you will definitely enjoy the car. |

"ToyoBARU or the '13 Boxster for my 40th this summer.
WHICH ONE SHOULD I GET???" Im getting a car this summer so the crisis is NOW! I don't need the back seat. The beauty of the Boxster to me is: wheels, springs, exhaust and Im DONE! With the ToyoBARU id be constantly tinkering! And with the high mileage I do, the drama of maintaining an after market turbo never appealed to me, nor does voiding warranties. (nor does being without a car if issues arise) THANKS for the feedback and dont worry 'bout the price: i have $30Gs CDN cash for the ToyoBARU or 1/2 the Boxster paid!

If you want to take issue with them giving Subaru too much credit for the engineering aspects of the car, then I completely agree. Obviously, Toyota played a pretty big role with regards to the powertrain and suspension set up, especially since they adjusted it for the GT-86/FRS. The fact that Toyota's CEO was test driving the thing shows they were very involved with the engineering. Either way, I don't get why it matters who gets credit. The end result is a great car regardless of which version you buy.

The only reason I'm getting a BRZ and not a Cayman is because the nearest Porsche dealer is 2 hours away from me. I didn't want to worry about getting warranty work taken care of without a dealer nearby. Plus, my Subaru fanaticism played a small role.

I'll read the review later, but Subaru sure can design a sound tube. They measured 8db louder under throttle than the excessive engine noise of the Impreza.
