No but it makes you a lot less as inclined to mod the vehicle. A fully stock twin is less likely to be driven by an enthusiast or someone who frequents the forums IMHO. No offense. I lease my WRX and I have minimal but still visible mods (tint, LED DRLs, CF inlay decal on steering wheel). Good chance I'll buy the WRX at lease end.

The first time I ever had someone wave at me was an individual driving a WRB WRX. I'll never forget it, he looked so happy as I assume he recently got it, had Temp plates and everything.

But yeah from then on...never again from other subie drivers expect from ppl I've met before lol

What happens when your lease is up?

Every WRX/STI guys wants to race me, angry staring and engine reving. Bunch of asshats.
I tell the gf to smile and wave then proceed to drive normally, too much testosterone is never good.

It's seems to me that it is hit or miss with these people. Although I do feel STI people seem a bit snobbish. I think most subaru people don't feel the twins are proper subarus.

The first subie wave I got was from a modded WRX maybe the secobd day I owned the car. Dude threw me dueces with a giant shit eating grin on his face as he passed me - it was a pretty rad into to the Subie community.

Since then it's hit or miss. I think most times it's because its just a car and a lot of people drive Subies in NE since they want the AWD. They couldn't care less that we have the same model/brand.

I tossed a wave to a clean Miata driven by an older guy the other day and he threw me one back. Light-weight, rear drive sports car camaraderie! I thought it made sense and I guess he did too.

It all depends on the person.

Maybe it was when the twins were more rare on the roads and the WRXs would throw dueces bc they thought it was cool to see one. Now they are not as rare to see.

The current plan is to buy the car back. If I were to buy the car back at the interest rate I'd be paying right now on financing, I save $5k because of my lease rate.

It's hit or miss. I've been ignored and had tons of mutual appreciation, staring, grinning, yelling through the windows at lights, lol. Seems like I get the most reaction from STI owners.

I went to a big all-Subaru show here and out of maybe 100 cars only three were BRZs, but all the Impreza guys were super nice and I didn't get any snide comments where I could hear them, lol.

Regardless of how you pay for your car, the second you sign the papers it's worth less. What's your point?

Yup, totally agree though I get caught up in my own head traveling the galaxy with Starlord and I become pretty oblivious to all things space/time...

BUT, last week I got the best Thumbs up wave from an older guy driving in an older sedan on the highway, totally unexpected and made me smile big. It reminded me that it's cool to give thumbs up/deuce,wave to ALL trick cars regardless of race, creed or religion.
