Do Impreza guys hate us?

I get the sense that Impreza/Subaru guys don't really like us.

It seems as though whenever I wave to somebody in a WRX/STI I never get a wave back.

Are we the gorgeous step-sister that everybody else is jealous of?

Dude I was thinking that I was fucking paranoid!

mokinbird87 08-01-2014 07:16 PM

I had a bugeye and I think of my old days so I wave at the other wrx/sti drivers and surely, nothing...

I do think it`s a different demographic for sure. I used to be quite obsessed with torque numbers :)

I live in a small area. There's a decent concentration of Subies though. Never get get waves.

Even when I venture to Ottawa or Montreal I don't seem to get waves back.
Hell, FRS' don't even wave to me lol

fanaticalz 08-01-2014 07:25 PM

i give the occasional deuces to wrx's.. i'd say it's like a 50% return rate

That depends. Are you gorgeous?

I think they're offended that they're no longer the sporty Subaru, they're the heavy Subaru. They're still athletic, but they feel like the stocky sister that plays field hockey and softball, not the graceful sister that studies ballet.

Most of the guys I wave to, wave back. To be very honest with you, I get more love from WRX and STi guys over FR-S/BRZ drivers.

chas3wba0 08-01-2014 07:40 PM

I get the occasional deuces/thumbs up from STi's. Not so much from WRX's... maybe they're insecure...

MrBlaze-65 08-01-2014 07:42 PM

I was a WRX guy, I remember that I used to have difficulty telling the twins apart so I would miss half the opportunities to wave because I wasn't sure it was a BRZ. Why I was biased to one over the other. I guess it was just a Subaru thing in my head. Silly in retrospect.

The main reason for that is STi people understand, they know the car culture and see it as a "nice car!" thing. WRX people are a mix of people who are into cars and others who might just love outdoors and don't really care about cars. What a look out for a modifications, those are always clear signs of people who are into the same things. But in the end I don't even get a lot of waves from FRS/BRZ as I use to. Most of the time I feel stupid waving and not getting one back so I usually do a head nod if they look my direction, at least that doesn't make me look weird. When I see a BRZ/FRS I always try to catch up to it and pull besides it but majority of the time lately they ignore me and just drive :(

Nothing wrong with that I guess, it sounds snobby or elitist but majority of the time the people who stops me to talk about my car always says, "I'm glad you got the Subaru version" it's just bad rep from Scion owners I guess. They're both nice but I found that people do judge it on the badges.

Every time I finally notice another twin with enough time to wave. It's a woman driving and I get a confused look back. Only one WRX has ever waved to me.

Very true, usually they have to be "in the scene" to even acknowledge us. Although I had a young kid in a slammed, excessively-cambered bug-eye WRX throw me deuces one time, and I just instinctively shook my head at him... oops... :slap:

I've gotten a wave once, all the others did obnoxious driving in traffic once they noticed me.
