My clutch began engaging like 1mm from the floor, and I suspect many people's are still grabbing slightly even with the pedal to the floor.

This causes hard to select 1st at a stop when warm, and sometimes the grinding when shifting.

I adjusted mine so the clutch begins engaging with the pedal further up, or also so it begins actuating earlier when you start to push the pedal. Basically made the actuation rod longer.

Our clutches have an extra spring, so it's hard to feel the proper "deadband". My clutch moved a lot before it began engaging, like 1.5'' to 2''. Usually you want 1/2'' pedal movement before anything moves clutch-wise. With the proper adjustment, the clutch engages earlier, and opens more when the pedal is pushed fully to the floor.

My clutch ACT 6 Pug, 4 months of use I did abuse it a little on the track. Now my 4th gear keeps grinding when I engage it above 5000 revs.

Mine grinds speed shifting into 5th. And downshifting into 4th. I rev match as much as possible...doesn't help. If I slowly put it into gear at lower rpm...no issue. Only high rev fast shifts...tranny issue???

Recently had similar issue of grinding going into 4th above 4k rpm. After a bunch of fighting with the general manager since the service manager was out I got a tech to ride with me. Previously couldnt get any work done since it was only in high revs when "speed shifting" not when driving "normal." This time the tech acknowledged the grind above 4k at highway merging speeds and passing speeds and put in the tech line. 30 mins later got a call back from subaru that they were sending transmission out.

So you have turbo, an aftermarket clutch, god only knows what other mods AND admit to abusing it on the track but when it breaks it is Subaru's fault and the car sucks?
Dude go buy something else and go away!!!!!

For the record the trans does suck. Only reason mines good is because they just replaced it. Turbo doesn't kill synchros by the way

Turbo by itself doesn't no, but multiple mods that increase the WHP and thus the strain on the transmission and/or crappy driving can (not saying you do)!
The tranny is engineered for a stock vehicle not one putting out 360WHP as the complainer states he has. Although I will give him credit for at least upgrading the clutch.
If this tranny were so bad on STOCK vehicles there would already be a service notice from Toyota/Subaru. I know, I KNOW there will be a million people saying they just don't acknowledge there is a problem but I will leave that up to the conspiracy theorists to debate. Toyota WANTS this car to succeed so will deal with any known issues.

My whole point is don't do heavy mods, drive the crap out of it, then go yelling foul when something breaks.

Mine was grinding on stock power output. And it's a known issue, Subaru told the tech on the phone this. As soon as the tech line was put in I got a new trans.

How low did you adjust it?

You are very, very close minded, the trans suck and is a known issue. Aspirated FR-S are broken on the dealership and certain parts are in back order. Dont be a FAN BOY... this is my 3rd sport car and so far at around the same horsepower. Do you buy a sport car to sit on it? Wow thats a lot of fun!

My 5th sports car and had about 8 muscle cars as well so no I don't "sit on it". And I have broken several of them after pushing them too hard on modded equipment. The difference is I knew the risk was there and did not blame the car manufacturer for my problems. Not sure how taking responsibility for my own actions makes me a "fan boy"?

Just because a bunch of guys whine and moan about their transmissions on a forum does NOT make it a known issue. It just means that the small percentage of the people that use the forum are more vocal about any problem they have. There are not nearly enough people that are on here to represent all the cars sold. Do a quick google search on FRS transmission problems and the only hits you will get are this forum or places that pulled their misinformation from it.

Shit happens and things break when you push them. Fix it and move on
