VVT issue, TSB or defect?

Has anyone had a VVT issue whether N/A or FI? If so, did you just replace with the same OEM one? Or has there been a revision on this issue?

The reason I ask is that, my car is starting to sound "UEL"ish although I have a custom EL turbo header. Maybe its my mind playing tricks on me, getting paranoid reading posts on here but I am getting it checked up next week.

Is this something you can tune out? I am currently on BRZedit tune for a custom turbo kit.

Any info would be appreciated!

Any engine codes stored? Mine can sound a bit burbly (especially when going off throttle near the redline when all the exhaust components are super hot) but I assumed since the car isn't acting up it was normal operation.

A video might be helpful, or I can just take a listen on Sunday at RDM and tell you if it's similar to what I experience.

no CEL or anything. I read a post saying that with VVT issues, there are no CEL's until it is too late.

Yea I'll be at Cascade C&C as well. Its hard to mess around at RDM since too many cops out. But yea if we have time, you can hear my "UEL" madness!

Video of the sound!

Hard to know what exactly you're hearing (or think you're hearing)

If there is no CEL it may be a cracked header also.. when my OEM header failed at the track it got louder and sounded like UEL header ..

I assume you saw the other thread and got paranoid after reading the VVT failure post
I wouldn't push the car and if possible remove the header and check for leaks first..

I can get some vids this weekend. I'm going to have the shop check various points, including the header before my Auto-X weekend.

Any chance for a link? Only thread I'm finding in search is from back in 2012.
