I installed mine m'self and it's doing this. Not nearly as bad as in the posted videos, but once I get into higher revs it's noticeable. Did I read right earlier that some were suspicious of it coming from the reverse lockout?

The shifter feels great. I put a biggass (735 gram) knob on top. It's about as smooth as I can imagine a shift being. I'd just prefer for this little bit of white noise to go away.

I loaded the reverse lockout spring with grease and the sound is all but gone now. Recommend trying that.

Sorry, but the instant you refuse to accept that something is not possible is the instant it comes back to bite you. There are hundreds of people running kartboy shifters with no problems what so ever. Many running other driveline mods including 1 piece driveshafts and various bushing replacements.

Occam's Razor my friend. Start with the simplest explanation and work from there. Given that there are so many running a kartboy shifter with no issues, you should start with that and assume it was installed incorrectly. Pictures of the shifter without the trim installed and ideally underneath might go a LONG way in helping diagnose your issues.

My money is on installation error. Once you've ruled that out with evidence is when you should start looking elsewhere.

I'll try the grease on the reverse lockout spring tomorrow. Probably just use the rest of the syringe Kartboy sent with the kit. Thanks! I'll let the results be known when I get some.

Dude - the Kartboy is long gone. So is the TWM. I will circle back to STSs at some point - maybe not. It is not that big of a deal to me. There is no problem to be solved for me. Simply a thread about my experience with the Kartboy shifter. And - it seems - I am not the only one. There you have it. I don't put up with non-working, annoying parts. Period. No matter what the cause.

Try a lightweight flywheel. If you think a short shifter rattle is annoying try clutch chatter.

I get to see how that works this Friday. I just had a competition clutch stage 3 segmented ceramic installed.

Keep my posted I also have that exact clutch. It's a descent clutch, not too heavy and still street friendly but It grabs aggressively. It's either in it out. I would recommend keeping the factory flywheel if that is even possible. But please elr me know how your experience turns out.

I'll let you know. I am expecting it to be like that. It's going in with the supplied flywheel. What WHP are you making? How long have you been running it and how is your CV holding out? I am thinking of doing the Driveshaft Shop thing but I have been told not to worry. I guess I worry too much but I am an inch lower and will be pushing something around 285 on 17x9s. I chose the bridgestone potenza pole position s-04s so that they are not too sticky. My plan has been to up the HP but still get it back to the spirit of the stock car in terms of the loose rear end. Once I have fun with that - I am going to drop in something like a full blown engine and alter the build towards track use.

Damn - that's off topic - sorry OP

Here is a list of my mods. I have about 3000 miles on my car with the new clutch and I haven't had any issues. Even went to an autocross event with the new clutch so the car did see some abuse. Honestly, I don't think you will need the carbon fiber drive shaft unless you putting out about 400 pounds of torque or somewhere in that range. I am also dropped about 1 inch maybe a tad more.

Tarmac 2 coilovers
Rota Torque 18/9.5
Bridgestone RE-11 tires 255-35-18 square
Vortech Supercharger 3.125 Pulley 11psi
Kartboy short shifter
Racseng Camber Plates
Aftermarket rear control arms
-3 camber front
-2 camber rear
Fully corner balanced
shifter bushing
APR front splitter
Slammer shift knob
Borla UEL header
Perrin headerback exhaust system
Competition Stage 3 clutch
getting opticoated next week (this paint sucks)
Revworks catch can
About 18,000 miles on the car.

made 294 whp and 220 wtq (mustang dyno corrected numbers)

Those racesengs - they are out of stock but they are on my list. Awesomeness.

It's not the driveshaft I am worried about - it's the axles.

I haven't had any issues with the factory axles. Time will tell.

BTW - the shop I was working with made this video of the TWM shifter rattling. TWM swears it doesn't rattle - not true.

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2tTm8olTe0"]twm shifter rattle - YouTube[/ame]

It's funny to hear my car with the Nameless Axelback and no turbo. It has an AVO and a 3" Perrin exhaust now.
