About dash speakers

So I'm thinking about replacing dash speakers. I do a little research, its a little difficult to find information. So I go to the source. As others have noted the dash appears to be wired in series, the tweeter in front of 3.5. Things I have not seen anywhere else, my tweeter is rated 4 ohms. everywhere I have read on these forums and others indicates that all the car speakers are 2 ohms. Are mine different? in any case it looks like 4 ohms in series with 2 ohm 3.5.

I'm running infinity kappa 62.11i in the doors, I was thinking infinity 3002CFX for the dash.

Options for wiring:
I saw in a different build one fellow bridged across the 4 connections, I guess that means he used the wires to the 3.5, which I haven't removed yet and don't know what look like.
anyone know the female end of this harness? Anyways, I'll do some more research, just thought I'd share my thoughts.

Edit: additional thoughts:
wiring the way they have it causes a net 6 ohm impedance. removing one speaker from the equation and using the infinity will effectively double the output from the dash... or I could do JL get a 3.5 and a tweeter wired in parallel for a net 2 ohm impedance and triple output, at the risk of under powering the speakers, atm I am running a pioneer HU, it puts out 50w per channel, however part of that's also fed into the amp in the rear.. not sure how that effects the equation either..

Closer investigation of stock tweeter revealed it to be wired in parallel. also the 3.5 in the front is also a 4 ohm speaker. this yields a net 2ohm impedance. unfortunately I already purchased 3 ohm speakers.

anyone know the rating on the rear speakers?

HU specifications:

Load Impedance ..... 4ohm (4ohm to 8 ohm (2ohm for 1 ch) allowable)

I feel much safer wiring these in series but I'm afraid that tripling impedance will effectively silence the dash. 6 ohms should be stable, and the HU has lots of volume I never use, but now my door speakers will vastly dwarf the dash.

hmmm.. advise?

*edit*
I have loads of gain I don't use on the amp currently, I could wire 3.5 in the dash directly powered off HU, net 3 ohm impedance there. and the tweeter could be powered in series with the door, yielding a net 5 ohm impedance. closer to balanced, however the gain on the door and tweeter then become linked.

oh my do I love pleasant surprises. speakers were delivered today
I wasn't expecting them until Friday!
+1 for fedex.

for those curious, what I'm working on here is all after market speakers, I decided to go infinity, and I want to maintain all the stock speaker locations.

Good info here...and also on the "reusing oem wiring thread"
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42239
Keep us updated! I will be installing the alpine kzp-445u micro amp tomorrow and am anxious to hear what it'll do with the stock speakers.

I've heard good things about infinity kappas and the reference line, if I do get speakers, I will likely follow your path. Right now, I've done sound deadening, and took out that harsh harsh tweeter (shoved some wiring in that 4 hole connector to keep the other speaker running). Sounds a bit better to my ears with just the rears, doors and the stock 3.5 dash running.

rear speakers are def 4ohm speakers.
FYI the bracket is 4 in but getting infinity 4002cfx in there requires some serious modification to the bracket.

I'd love to replace all the stock speakers in my car but honestly even having dealt with replacing the speakers, head unit, amp, and adding a subwoofer in previous cars I still feel like I have no idea what I'm doing.

If I wanted to put a nice set of Infinities in my BRZ, what's the best way to go about it?

Best, IDK.. I just finished my install.. and am exhausted atm. I need to retune amp gain. I can tell you what I did which I'm pretty happy with already without even messing with the amp gain. I'm thinking of making a build thread here shortly. What I'd really like to do now I hook up with a OEM+ member and compare apples or oranges.

Anyways.
previously I had the alpine ktp-445u running bridged to infinity kappa62.11i's in the doors. This sounds fantastic but it will outshine the entire rest of the system and you basically have a 2 speaker setup as everything else will play way below them. the 62.11i are 2 ohm speakers, and the ktp-445u is a 45watt rms per ch, 2x if bridged at 4 ohms. do the math and your pumping a lot of power to the 62.11i
on my old setup 12/40 max on my HU was very loud.
20/40 was rave level sound
in addition to that I had JL Audio PWM110-WJX with a 250watt amp, ill
get to this later, but in short on my prior setup it couldn't keep up.

New setup.
all infinity except sub.
4002cfx in rear powered of HU
Reference X REF-075tx in front powered off HU
kappa 62.11i in door powered by ktp-445u
3002cfx in front also powered by ktp-445u in series with door.

new setup intentionally rises impedance seen by the amp to 5 ohm and rises impedance seen by HU in front from 2 to 3, while dropping rear from 4 to 3. sound stage sounds higher using original amp gain (again I haven't adjusted this quite yet).

Now to achieve similar sound to before at 12 I need to bring the HU to about 20/40 (no big deal really), and the sub actually blends in a lot nicer.

BTH the most painful thing, was getting the speaker wire thru the door grommet to run the speakers in series. seeing as I had everything off the car anyways it may have been easier to run the amp in 4 ch mode and run the 3002cfx in the front off the amps rear channels.

Edit* additional comment
best might be to not go with infinity if you want to maintain all the stock speaker locations like I did, as the REF series wired in parallel leads to a dangerously low impedance. J: and Pioneer versions of these size speakers are 4 ohms, and could be wire exactly like the stock setup.

I really liked the all infinity Kappa set I had in my old car, seems a shame to move to another kit. I also had problems with my old car though, power dips and headlights dimming etc. I'm hoping to avoid those and any distortion this time around, I might just have to hire someone else to do the audio for me :P

I replaced my dash speakers, not the tweeters but the actual speakers next to them. I ended up doing an almost plug-and-play installation that took me about 20 minutes including taking pictures. I had writtend a DIY but as I was posting it the site crashed on me and erased the thread before it was posted I will be working on replacing the actual tweeters and making a close to oem installation.

small update:
wiring the 3.5 and doors in series was a mistake.
unfortunate because it was so much work to do

ended up wiring the dash in parallel. no issues yet. infinity advertises these as 'true 4 ohm' I wonder if they use components that dynamically alter impedance based on current throughput, or maybe the pioneer unit is conservatively rated.
