Oh No
HELP My ESC just quit working. I just put some new E85 into the tank and went for a ride. I noticed that the power was down so I thought maybe a bad batch? But then I noticed the voltage meter stays at 28.7. So I went home and first I checked the switch by engaging it with key on motor off. Listen for the blower. Nothing. Next with the motor running I suck on the DR tube and nothing. All the wiring looks good and the fan on the charger/controller is running. Anybody have any ideas? Is there a fuse I can check? I don't remember. Does anyone know how I can check the switch for continuity? Please help. It sucks driving around without boost. |

Got a question; what's a good/safe volt meter reading? Mines been steadily claiming these pass few days and is now at 29v when fully charged.
It's it something i should worry about? Should I turn the system off to stop charging the batteries when it reach that high?

Will do.
In the meantime is it ok to run the car with the ESC E85 tune? Or should I load the E85 non ESC tune? And should I remove the compressor or just leave it in place? I also have no drag reduction. |

Another thing to check -- make sure you haven't snagged the black wire that runs through the firewall. If the copper in that wire is exposed, the controller will refuse to start even if the voltmeter is on. I actually had that issue where it never dumped voltage like you're having -- I was a little too aggressive in my routing the first time around and caught it on a corner, which I didn't notice until the wire was rubbed through nearly completely. After repairing the wire myself, I was back up with no problems. Just another thing to check -- but Rob will help you diagnose it the best. He has been great through a couple of hiccups I've had. Thanks guys. I'll check both of those things before I bother Rob.
As far as the wire routing goes, when I did the install the harness touched the exhaust manifold and melted. I'll check that first. Does anybody know if the compressor motor is locked without power or does it spin freely? The reason I ask is because even without the ESC the car runs great. It's just that full throttle is the same as half throttle. |
