They need Keiichi Tsuchiya to drive this thing around a track.

The guy could push any slow car to its max and beat faster cars times

Nakaya is pretty awesome driver. He was the race instructor for some of the pro drivers now in Japan. Takuma Sato who used to drive for Honda F1 was his student. He also has a machanical engineer background so he knows how things work on a car.

He was also the tech expert and presenter on Best Motoring International. This guy can drive.

And he knows Tsukuba well: http://www.roadandtrack.com/racing/m...tsukuba_page_4

Excerpt from that:

Nakaya says, "I was able to push the Evo just like any other day. The car's setup is really ideal for this type of track. The suspension is tuned just right so the handling balance is virtually neutral. The Evo's sharp steering really made it easy to negotiate the track's tricky corners."
Nakaya and his Evo not only won the contest, they recorded the fastest speed on the back straight at 119 mph. While the other cars were struggling with grip and traction, the Evo breezed through, prompting Nakaya to comment: "This amount of rain won't slow my Evo at all."

That out of the way, we still have no idea how much practice time he had with each car, though it looks as though the conditions were the same/it was done on the same day. It really does look like he gave the BRZ a more half-assed attempt, though.
One fact you might not know about Nakaya, he used to be the instructor for a lot of Japanese pro drivers. Takuma Sato (former F1 driver now Indy car) was his student.

Probably does but the fact that he instructs F1 driver to be is pretty awesome. I've seen him drive in old BestMotoring vids, he is so fast with his shifting and very clean cornering. He was one of my favorite driver next to Gan san.

True, I like his driving too. They say Nakaya's technique is more strategic compared to how Tsuchiya drives in a more touchy-feely way.

Taku Sato is the one of the first students at Nakaya's class and the best ever F1 driver from Japan.

Not suprising it has similar times to the DC5 Type R, their specs are similar.

True about the fading, but you don't think they upgraded the pad compound as well to decrease stopping distance?

From production car reviews so far the 86/BRZ/FRS stops from 60 in the 114-120ft range, this can definitely be improved. There are lots of cars that can stop from 60 in less than 110ft stock.

yeah 114 ft isnt that short but its more due to tires than it is brakes

reviews say the brakes are pretty good but not great, chris harris stated that there was brake fade after a few pretty hot laps, but it was minuscule, and hes the type of driver that would sense the slightest bit of fade, he does write reviews and has to be keen on every aspect of a car

a normal person wouldnt be able to sense brake fade till about 8th-10th hot lap, and mainly because a normal driver doesnt know how to push a car that hard...

i think brake diameter is acceptable for the size and weight of the car, upgrading the pads should be enough for the weekend warrior/DD, upgrading the whole system should be left to the hardcore people

EDIT: sticky tires/ coilovers/ brembos(or equivalent) could bring the stopping distance around 100 ft (99-105 ft)
