I was thinking of trying that with leaving the lip chrome... but the painting didn't go too well when I tried it. Looks different for sure.

To mark a straight line I use an electrical tape, is easier to create the line and mold it... Also It is better on not letting the paint pass...

This is part of what I did... Also painted both sides of the signal lights bazel part flat black...

Dang those tails look good! I have Valenti's but wouldn't mind experimenting with my stock ones!
Did you wrap them in CF? And paint the other parts flat black?

I cover with CF the side marker and cut the area were the light go thru and also cut a circle for the center of the brake part... But for me what give a different look is that I cover the part of the signal with a smoke acrylic; so you do not see chrome part just the lip that I left...

I got to say it looks real good! Wish i had the experience doing something like that, might try it out though
I'm not using the stock lights anyway!
But for the signal part of the light, did you add a piece of black "panel"? Or did you just paint the reflector black?

Yes; it has the signal lights; I just cover the chrome part with a piece of acrylic painted smoke...
