A trick!! Try this.
Have your car out in bright sunlight so the sensor on the dash is having its pineal gland stimulated. (Google pineal gland if necessary). Select reverse and note the brightness in the h/u. Turn on your headlights. If it goes too dark for your liking, you can try Day View set in your h/u. To force Day View always on, click Audio>Info (or scroll down to Info)>Settings>press Link to Day/Night and set to None> set to DAY. In my h/u manual this is on p.28 & 29. Does this earn me a pint?

Does anyone know if the beatsonic harness works with the Duo camera and BRZ HU? and if it does work will the install be easier than using the SVX harness?
I really want to install a rear cam but not good with all the electronic wiring and stuff.

Here's some helpful homework for you below
In particular I would strongly recommend ensuring you get cameras that are known to work as low as 6Volt to save a lot of hassle and run camera cabling in from the trunk between the rear seat and tucked up under the edge of the center console then pull off the cover at the base of the kneepad. With the h/u out you can reach in and down with your arm and grab cabling to pull up. After reading the links you may well decide you can use little computer-pin female connectors eg for USB or fans or similar instead of getting a harness. Attach your cam with double sided tape for a few days to see if it fails and check if happy where you want it before making holes. ******************************/index.php?/topic/2270-pin-out-diagram-for-oem-head-unit/ ******************************/index.php?/topic/1588-camera-install-under-50/

Is the SVXdc harness needed to install the rydeen cam to a aftermarket headunit or just OEM? I bought the camera to go with my pioneer 4000nex. Wondering if i need to buy that as well.

Out of curiosity, if I were to run a Rydeen Duo with the SVXdc harness would I need to splice any wires for power, or would the SVXdc harness make it 100% plug and play (i.e., no cutting or splicing any wires on the car)?
Thanks. |

As far as power goes, the Rydeen Duo has a power wire at the head unit end. You can get the SVXdc harness with a 6v lead, but you will still have to connect the two wires. This is not "plug-and-play"--you will have to solder, tape, or crimp. Soldering and sleeving is probably the best option, but I chose to crimp with a $1 butt connector. Alternatively, the Rydeen Duo also has another power wire at the camera end and you can use that one instead, but you'll have to connect it to some power source. Whichever one you chose to use, tape up the other so it doesn't accidentally come into contact with metal or get tangled. -Z |

You will not need to cut into ANY car wiring. SVXdc sells a harness(es) that provides all the connectivity you need. The 16-pin camera harness has a 6V power lead in it that gets power when you put the car in reverse. The only issue is if your camera requires 12V to run...which I explain below.
If the camera is 12v be sure to buy the option connector harness that connects to an unused port behind the radio that provides 12V, in addition to the 16-pin camera harness. You will also need a 6v relay to use as a trigger, as well as crimp connectors or solder\shrink wrap. If the camera is 6v then you just need the one 16-pin harness. I did my backup cam install in January and it is 100% plug n play. My camera is 12V so I had to wire in a relay along with the option connector harness so I can help you with this if that's what you're working with. http://ae64.com/Rear-camera-16-pin.htm Quote:

This is the harness that I used:
http://www.autoharnesshouse.com/19867.html I have an Ebay camera, so the 12V is necessary. No complaints thus-far.

Specs for the Rydeen Duo state a working voltage of 9-16V, so I'm assuming it would need a 12V source. What exactly is the benefit of the Pass-Thru version of the harness on the SVXdc website? It appears that I would only need the Bypass version and the Option Connector harness. How exactly would I wire the camera up to receive 12V power? I read that it involves a relay, but I would like to know what relay to buy and how to actually wire it up. Thanks again. |
