For anyone with a BRZ with the front 22mm Strano sway bar with Konis, what do you think about the setup? Do you find it pushy, and if so have you been able to dial in the shocks, alignment, or tire pressures to get it to be a little more neutral?
Car just got the Konis on earlier this week and the bar is being delivered soon, but recent reading have led me to think it might be a little too big on our cars. Just trying to see if anyone has figured it out yet or if I should look into a different bar. |

I have John's old Strano Bar on my otherwise stock FRS
I found that on a highspeed autocross course (and probably a race track) the combination was quite good. but on a tighter course I definitely had more push than I would have liked, the car was not responsive at all from throttle inputs. plus it bangs, unfortunately (although it only bangs on one side, so I'm thinking install error) but the tolerances are definitely narrow.and I'm in an FRS, I think for a BRZ the Strano bar would be in fact a little too much.

I went ahead and just used the inserts that arrived last week, overall the install wasn't bad but the cutting of the shock was a real PITA. Most of the DIYs, people seem to not have a problem with it, but it took forever and a lot of muscle/effort to get it done. One benefit of this setup though is it looks almost like a completely stock car. There are a few details that give it away, but it won't be obvious. The black/OEM housing will be helpful for my dealer visits. Quote:
Was interested in increasing front end stability on higher speed courses but your feedback about tighter courses (can be somewhat common around here) concerns me. I assume by 'otherwise stock', you don't have shocks and just some decent tires? Thanks. Yes, being hollow it is one of the lighter ones available. Also one of the softer ones, but I think Perrin has a 19mm adjustable bar that is slightly less stiff. Not sure about the Whiteline 20mm. |

Thanks for the confirmation. Are you going to get shocks?
Just got the Strano bar on last night, took it for a test drive, so far so good, no banging or noises anything like that. Clearance was tight on the driver side, so I ground down the end of the swaybar next to the endlink for a bit of safety margin. Not sure if it would have been a problem if I hadn't, but I figure i might as well do it while I was in there. Anyway, car seems to drive pretty decent among my 'test course' consisting of a few on ramps. All somewhat higher speed stuff you wouldn't find in an autocross, but the car does have increased stability and turn in. I'll see how it feels at an autocross, especially the slower tighter stuff, though I won't really know for sure until I get some good tires on it. |
