I don't think so. I think the production schedule has already been sent, hence the dealer allotment. My guess would be that the schedule will be accelerated for everyone if they need to build more cars, but that our cars' spots in the queue are already set. That's my hope anyway.

What is the 3/28 on sale date mean if they pushed back? What's been on sale since 3/28? Someone took a picture of there are whole bunch cars in the factory parking lot and on the semi truck even before the start building date right? They are going to hold it till next year wait for them rust?

That's usually how this works. It might mean that someone might not get the color/transmission of choice though. Personally, if they tell me all they are getting is automatics I'm walking. I'll go buy a used Cooper S to use as a track car, keep daily driving the WRX, and pickup an FRS in a few years.

I refuse to drive automatic unless it's a rental car. My mom taught me how to drive manual when I was 13, and I've been driving manuals ever since.

The car has been on sale in Japan since 3/28. They didn't push back the date. Japan just sold out for the entire year. So anyone placing orders now, and some of the people that placed orders over their already allocated totals have to wait. They didn't expect this many people to buy the car.

From what I am understanding, you can't order the car to your specs and expect to receive it this year. But there should be showroom models to choose from. Am I wrong?

While I don't disagree with most of this statement, there are factors that make your bigger argument wrong. Japan has a much bigger enthusiast car culture (per capita) than the US... Japanese tend to live with there children when they get old, so that gives them a larger relative disposible income because they dont have to save to retire.

While this announcement might have some bearing on NA or Europe, because it shows the car is more popular in general than they anticipated, The companies have already allocated this years production to counties independently.

They expect to get 15-20 of them. Price gouging will now commence. In Japan there is no "Market Adjustment" that's why these are selling so well.

You could also throw the RX-8 into the mix even though it has four doors -- but gas mileage is horrible. The Renesis may make more horsepower but it's not as practical as the FA20. Yet the RX-8 enjoyed what, an eight-year-run? I'd take that. :happy0180:
The RX-8 would be a great car if they use a different engine it has the look, I'm not sure how Mazda cant see that!

So those of us with VIN's should be happy? :P

I'm betting loads of Americans will get their car before I do and I already have a VIN. I think everybody who ordered quite early should have a car sometime by the end of May if are in their first shipment to their dealer.

my thoughts exactly! But then kudos to them for sticking to their wankel engines! The rx8 is a beautiful, and functional (the dooorrrss!) car!

No part of that post involved bunched panties. Sorry to burst your bubble. Only personal preference based on what Scion has and hasn't told us about the launch. I'm just formulating a backup plan incase they aren't able to provide me with my preferred transmission setup. Why settle on a large purchase?

You won't have to settle. Stop worrying!

Not worried. Go check my other posts telling people we will get cars. Just having a backup plan. I like to be prepared for both outcomes. Plus the cooper s is hella fun to drive. Maybe I should get a second job and just get both.
