Like Rice_Classic said, having part rain and part sun is a great learning experience, but I agree that sunny and dry the whole day would be nice. If you don't come Friday hopefully you come to the 2 ORP track days I also have in the original post as about 6 of us will be there at least. I'm renting a hotel room so I can drive out the night before instead of driving to the track in the morning since it's so far away.

Also if you don't want to race you should come out and watch for a little bit and take some video of my car.

I would bring both, just in case of rain. A Drizzle, a sprinkling, a passing shower that just dampens the track and you'll be just fine with the 2/32nd RE-11s. No standing water = no real need for treadblocks.

Wet pavement or 'damp' pavement should be better described as 'less grippy dry pavement'. Meaning, unless there's actually standing water on the track, there isn't much need for tread as treadblocks are really there to channel water. I ran 2 wet races a couple weekends ago on Toyo RRs (DOT slicks) and I had loads of grip once the standing water dissipated. Towards the end of the race I was 2 seconds faster than a similar car that was on Hoosier Rain tires.

Look at the radar before you leave the house and it will give you an idea of how much precip you're looking at.

To everyone who's doing the lapping day, I invite you back for Saturday or Sunday to participate or volunteer with Cascade for the race. If you want to wave flags at a turn station, line up the racecars at pre-grid or help out at Tech and get a closer look at the cars and gear then please ask an official on Friday and let them know you'd like to help out during the race weekend.

The racing is going to terrific on Sunday. If not volunteering, I recommend coming back to watch.

The concept of being your mule is appealing......

On a side note the last track day in September I attended started with rain and cleared up for the last 2 sessions. I want a nice 80+ degree day for my next track experience.

For the ORP Friday July 25th track day I rented a room for the night before so we can drive out the night prior and get decent nights rest. I got it at Super 8 The Dalles at 609 Cherry Heights Rd, The Dalles, OR. If anyone would like to share the room with me you are welcome to. The room has 2 queen beds and cost me $100 and I'd like to split the cost evenly based on how many are sleeping in the room.
Anyone that's registered already are welcome to join in on the room. It's next door to a Fred Meyers which will be nice.

I'd love to but my Dad is coming out for a visit that weekend, I'll still be at the track day, but he and I are gonna share a room.

Will was my instructor for the day.
Gave me a lot of good instructions.
Pretty cool dude, I learned a lot as well.

Appreciate the offer but my wife is coming with me so we've booked a place in Wasco.

I had to drop this one. This summer is turning out to be pretty shitty for me. I'm keeping the 2 PIR days, August and September, but the ORP day in July is just too close to the move day and the uncertainty that comes with it. I will be doing an ORP day but it will likely be with @glamcem on one of his club days since it is unlimited track time.

Don't forget. This Friday is the Oregon Raceway Park's track day for beginners to advanced HPDE. It's going counterclockwise instead of the normal clockwise which is a special treat I hear. I'm heading down Thursday night and staying in The Dalles so if anyone wants to split the room let me know.

Well I totally meant to cancel my spot at CSCC HPDE this Friday but didn't so looks like I'm going after all. I'm far from healed up but there's no way I'm paying for an event and not driving. Looks like it's only me and a guy named Randall whom I don't believe I've met.

If you're on here Randall I will be bringing a canopy to keep us out of the sun all day just bring a chair and you're welcome to use the shade.

I'm sure if you email the lady that runs it she won't charge you if you tell her what happened.

Is there still some kind of track day at ORP tomorrow, Aug 8th? I looked at the ORP web site and it doesn't show anything. I will be there the 12th for a ORP Club Day.
