Been having the same problem since we went from 5% to 6%.

Not too bad I suppose. Tax in NY sucks, not sure about other states.
If you think your number is fair, I'm going to use it as reference too, because here in Los Angeles the sales tax is also 8.75%. Thanks buddy!

Yup I think over all if you can get it at MSRP and only pay the government taxes and maybe a random "doc" fee up to 100-300 it's a fair deal. I remember what happened with the S2k and (more recently) the BOSS 302 and it's complete crap.

Seeing how as of right now 0.9% is not currently available on "all new models" (as the WRXs have 1.9%, and I'm not certain if that also applies to the STI), I would doubt that Subaru would offer financing specials (particularly as low as 0.9%) on a brand new model that is expected to make a big splash while being produced in relatively limited numbers.

Can anyone speculate what APR you can get with tier A credit on a 60mo. loan through Subaru FS (or whatever Subaru's financial service is called)?

This was a dealership email that stipulated .9% on all new models. Whether they will still be running the same promotion when the BRZ lands is the sticky part. I'm not counting on it.

I don't think anyone is going to be able to give you a straight answer since no one knows what will apply to the BRZ. However, if Subaru doesn't end up with a good rate, I may end up financing through PenFed. Anyone can join if you join an affiliated military organization for a nominal fee (think of it as a donation), and they're offering 1.99% APR on new auto loans.

If that's true, then that's pretty awesome... 0.9% is practically nothing. With a $30,000 purchase (just ballparking a BRZ with tax/fees included), $0 down and a five-year financing term, that amounts to less than $700 of interest over that period of time. And of course it gets even smaller with more money down and/or a shorter financing term.

I'm not an expert, but from what I remember, dealerships can't change Subaru's special interest rates, unless the dealership itself is going to be financing the vehicles (and not Subaru American Credit), but that's usually a practice more commonly found in used car lots.

Yeah, when I first saw it I assumed it was through Subaru but then checked their website and saw not all models get .9%.

In retrospect, the fact they obviously have no 2013 models on the lot and are trying to clear as many as they can probably has something to do with it.

If it doesn't work out I may just finance elsewhere but one can always hope. I'm not keen on dragging car payments out for 5 years, but if it was at .9% who cares.

I'm in the Buffalo area too. My wife just picked up a Sonata at Northtown Subaru/Hyundai, in fact. Glad to see they're not marking it up. Hope I get to see you around in your BRZ soon!

That's usually the case, outside of when car sales might be decreasing, such as if it's a slow-selling model or if it's in a situation like Toyota before when they were doing 0% on almost everything to keep customers buying after the Toyota brake fiasco. I have a hard time imagining Subaru (and even Toyota/Scion) offering special rates for the BRZ. If you finance through them, the going rate is likely 6-7% with excellent credit (say 730+), though you'd be better off going straight to a credit union or even looking into your own bank.

Yeah... like I said, 0.9% is almost nothing, as shown by the calculation I posted up. I agree though, five years is a while, especially if you can afford the payments of a shorter term. I had a four-year loan for my Evo, though I ended paying it off in three and change.

Since I live in NY now I know how precise the final price will be. Thanks.

My friend just financed a used '11 WRX at 7ish% with not-so-great credit at a local Subie dealer. I hope it won't be that high!

Used cars usually don't get financing specials, but some companies (and their financing divisions) offer them on certified pre-owned cars. BMW does this, and so does Subaru, and on their site they talk about the CPO rates being "as low as" 1.99%, likely with top tier credit. It's likely that your friend's WRX was CPO, and even with his credit not being great, the specials allowed it to get down to ~7%, which isn't too bad. (If there weren't special rates available for whatever reason, he'd likely have had to go with 10-15%, depending on how bad his credit was.)
