2014 86CUP Challenge to NorCal with NCRC

Just want to say an early THANKS to anyone and everyone that will attend the June 28/29 event at Thill. The experienced folks always seem willing to give a hand and I wish for it to continue on. What a community we live in!! This weekend looks to have a great turnout!!

Sadly, I've posted I cannot make June 28/29 weekend. The SC will be going thru an upgrade as well as some other changes to the car.

I'm also noting that are other 86-owners that are not in the 86Cup that are also attending this weekend. I want to congratulate you folks for 'passing' the HOD experiences! Don't be shy this weekend, there will be very experienced folks in attendance.

Never tracked before but this Sat 6/28 looks like it could work for me. Would be great to roll with you all. Is there still availability (website seems to suggest yes for 86cup)? Aside from a helmet, do I need anything else? I have a stock car/wheels aside from CBE.

First of all, I think the 6/28 event is full.
Unfortunately you won't be able to participate in 86CUP if it's your first time. You would have to be signed up for either Open (Advanced) or Point By (Intermediate) groups to participate. As a first timer you would have to be in Driving school or Solo and those two groups are already full. My advice is to sign up (well in advance) to do a track day with a group like Hooked On Driving with a good driving school, and start getting some experience on the track. You need to be approved by an instructor to move up from school to solo, and then from solo to intermediate level and that generally takes several track days, at least 6-7 I'd think for most folks.

If you have a helmet and a (mostly) stock car, you should be fine for the track. There are some mods you can prioritize (brakes) if you plan to go to the track regularly, but for a first day you don't need anything else. Visit the motorsports and racing sub forum on here and see what other advice there is for first timers, there is a lot of great info there. All that said, if you're interested you should still consider coming out to the track that weekend to watch and maybe even catch a ride from someone else more experienced. It's an eye opening experience to see what others can do with the car and gives you a bit of a sneak preview of what you'll be doing yourself. Some guys come out to the track just to hang out with us because we're that fun.

Anyone else planning to attend the 86Cup this weekend (Sat/Sun) at thill with NCRC but have not filled out the papers, PM me your car's mod list so I can categorize you correctly. I may be able to get the papers to someone that will be attending (fill it out there, give it back to him) but PM me your mods incase we forget to ask.

Remember, if you were in one class before but your recent mods moved you into a different class, I'll need an undated mod list to categorize you again.

Good luck to all of the attendants! 86Cup or not! 86 owner or not! Keep cool too btw.

yay, driving school companion for saturday ... im doing solo on Sunday but looks like its a full group already. if u can and since u r already there, u should consider Solo on Sunday with us (if someone doesn't show up/there is an open spot)
