Fun Red Light Story...

I didn't see a thread like this one, so I could be posting in the wrong place. Either way, I thought this could be a fun topic.

It seems to me that people that don't know a ton about the BRZ assume its fast when they look at it, and sometimes, at red lights that can lead to evil eyes and engine revving...

This happened to me yesterday. A kid in a Charger with a hemi pulled up next to me, looked my car up, then revved his engine loudly and looked me in the eye. I laughed, knowing there was not too much of a chance of me beating him. Just the same, I nodded. No one had really challenged me like that yet, and i figured if I did by some miracle beat him to the next light, I could laugh my ass off at him.

So there I sat, girlfriend next to me telling me not to be stupid, me ignoring her, and listening to this tool in a V-8 revving his engine in anticipation of racing my little 4-banger. I couldn't help but laugh.

Then the light turned green. I laid only a little rubber and got a great jump. I was already in 4th gear when I realized he wasn't ahead of or next to me... as he had stalled the car at the light. Never saw him again after that, as I was getting on the highway at the next turn.

My car is 1-0 in drag races. And I don't care if it's a technicality, it beat a freaking hemi V-8. Anyone else have fun stories like that?

i agree with you. and im not part of an illegal underground group that races for car titles, or some movie plot like that. I think I topped out at 47 in a 45. i wasn't going to pursue him past the speed limit, I just thought it was a funny story.

That is funny, both my teenagers are learning to drive and I occasionally test to see what my best 0-"speed limit" times are.

My daughter constantly gives the the "Dad!..." and the evil eye , and I tell her to look at the speedo (right ON the speed limit).

So there is still fun to be had without violating the law.

My son has a lead foot and my wife gives me a hard time and I tell her "Maybe YOU should have taught him to drive in your Passat then....."

Actually depending on the year and trim level you would have just barely edged him out. If it was and older one 06ish and not a Daytona or SRT8 version, the BRZ is faster. They are even with a 06 Daytona R/T.

As for already being in 4th gear, only reason you won was because he had some sort of problem. So that is actually a loss in my book. Only cars that have taken me to 45 mph speed limits are cars like 335i BMW's.

Noooo.... thats just the fastest id gone during said encounter. I can see how you'd read it that way, but I never really intended on getting into an epic drag with the guy. Just seeing if I could beat him to the speed limit. Which technically i did.

Sorry to everyone for making this thread. Im new and figured you'd all have a humorous story like this. i figured you'd get a laugh out of it, and maybe tell one of your own. Clearly I was mistaken.

As I said, speed limit was 45. No desire to get a ticket. Just was trying to beat him to the speed limit. After that, I would have let him fly by, his manhood intact. But, as you said he had a problem at the light.

Anyway... hope that cleared that up.

I would have stayed in 2nd gear. That would seal the deal.

I think he was saying once he hit 45 mph he shifted into 4th to just cruise.
