A new Vette is going to run you 55 grand or so. Find a used twin for 18 or so, couple grand for the swap kit, several thousand for engine and transmission, and do your own labor. You can probably come in under 25 grand total, but plan for 30. And then your FRVette has a back seat!

There are a few LS swaps in this article, including a BRZ
http://www.speedhunters.com/2014/05/...formula-drift/Only a typo of capitalization. Short for Controller Area Network (CAN) Bus, it's the circuit the various ECUs (including the gauge cluster) use to communicate. |

I plan on doing this with a shell in the future. My goal is to continue to have one with FI and one with an ls swap (racecar only, no interior etc.)

All this talk about stigma of owning one, etc..
TBH, I'm beginning to hate the stigma of owning an 86. It seems like carbon fiber stickers and "stanced" wheels are becoming the norm and cool thing to do. Embarassing. ![]() At least, for now, most of that garbage is staying on the FRS side.

Ok....here's some good questions:
Seeing that Weapon Grade Performance and Vorshlag already have swapped an LSx engine into it and have already listed a kit for sale on their website...then how come whenever I search on google or youtube, all there is to be shown is very disappointing and boring videos of the LSx powered FRS/BRZ boringly sitting in a parking lot or a car show being stared at, starting it up and revving???? Where are the Real videos of it actually working well and being driven??? You know...like casually on the street with driver/narrator commentary about it and impressions, and also at a closed circuit track being ran hard, etc.?? I want to see videos of it actually being driven, on the track and also on the street. Why would I buy a kit that cost several thousands of dollars if there are no reviews nor impressions? I don't want to see it at some car show with spectators staring under the hood, or videos of the guy starting it up and revving it....that is super weak! lol |

Patience my friend, engineering a kit to be a TRUE bolt in takes time, just to get the right transmission to work and line up to the OEM hole for original shifter they tried 4 different transmissions and had the engine trans. power train in and out of the car 4 times,....read the article it explains this, they could fit any trans. they want and hack sheet metal were it interferes , as in all previous 86 swaps, but then those wouldn't be TRUE bolt in kits......Vorshlag is doing it right, its not a one off swap which they could do in two months. |

Ok...I just read that entire Vorshlag development blog. Very impressed and they look like they know what they are doing.
Looks very high quality, a lot of thought behind it making it a true bolt on kit and they look like they cater to real world track use and performance use (and not just a common imbalanced dragcar with a huge engine, or for riceboys just wanting a showcar with a bigger engine to impress people). I'll admit it, I'm hooked and I am def going to follow that kit build...seems like the best kit and most legit one out there yet ![]() Their past projects/cars focused on Track use, is the biggest thing that attracts me

I originally scoffed at an LS conversion for the FT86, but after multiple FA20 FI failures as I was an early adopter, I have no confidence long term in the FA20 being FI, even at low boost. This is the perfect solution and being that the boxer engine is so freaking wide, it practically was made for a LS conversion. |
