If you don't want too worry about mark-ups find out which Scion dealer in your area sells the most, because the dealers that doesn't do well with Scion will mark-up the price of the FR-S with accessories. Meaning the low volume Scion dealers will probably get one or two FRS for the entire month depending on Build Book and Allocations, so they will try to maximize the profit on that one FRS they get.

Not really its much of a debate any longer. Even Jack Hollis said "Dealers are free to set their own prices, but they must sell for their advertised and posted price" (paraphrased, but he said it multiple times when asked)
It does make the process easier, at least with Scion you can Internet shop between dealers and know that what you see is the price they'll sell it for as opposed to the negotiating starting point which makes Internet shopping useless IMHO.

I think the biggest issue is what was talked about earlier in that the demand wasn't always there for previous Scion models, so Pure Price usually meant MSRP. Honestly, as I am not in the USA and have never bought a Scion in the USA, I don't have enough personal experience to comment on it any further, but it seems to me like Pure Price is kind of crap, it basically just means no negotiation, what you see is what you pay, but that really only benefits the dealership in most cases, IMO.
I mean sure it's a simpler selling strategy, and customers may not be as confused by all the negotiation and pricing, etc., but it closes a lot of doors on savings for the customer as well. Jeff

My dealer explicitly told me the car will be sold to me at MSRP. I think you can threaten to have the car shipped to another dealer (assuming you live nearby multiple ones) if they want to add a markup on top. I'm sure they make good money at MSRP, 15% profit built in is my guess.

I just spoke with my dealer who contacted me to confirm color and transmission (I'm a 1st 86'er) and he stated that he will be selling me the car at MSRP (he said he wouldn't do the "market adjustment to me). But...he said all subsequent buyers would be paying the market price. Good luck to the rest of you. Also said the car would be in first or second week of May.
