I believe they are not necessary, I have them though. I know someone who had them noticed they were digging into the hole in the coil, that has me a bit worried. I will have to wait when I can see if is the same thing for me.

I am and haven't had any issues. It really was a plug and play mod. No additional parts needed

I am on swifts and like the setup a lot but want another half inch to lower. These sound like a good option. How many of you are coming from the swifts?

Is it normal to hear something rolling inside the coilovers, mine wasn't shipped very neatly and this is my first set of aftermarket coilovers.

Ah yes, the dreaded but expected shipping damage one these. Looks like the paint on yours just got malformed; mine actually has paint chipped off the helper springs. Haven't put mine on yet but not gonna bother with returning them over the little chips. Functionally, yours should be fine so up to you.

Edit: Just saw your other pics with the chips... same deal as mine

So coils allow you for wider wheels? Sorry I'm noob lol

The overall diameter of the spring and perches is smaller than stock or most (if not all other) aftermarket shocks so the wheels won't rub them.

The packing on my STs was terrible too. Numerous chips in the paint on the springs and one of the dust covers was cracked. I got a replacement dust cover, but decided to not worry about the paint chips on the springs and installed them anyway. I was worried that there might be hidden issues with the shocks due to the poor packaging, but so far so good.

I've now had them for 6 months and 3500+ miles and am happy so far. The ride around town is quiet (no clunking) and feels very similar to the stock suspension. In addition, I have competed in 7 autocross events this year and they have held up to autocross abuse just fine. Everytime I change my wheels for autocross, I inspect the shocks and springs and make sure the paint chips on the springs aren't getting worse or rusting. Everything is still looking good, but I live in NC and keep my car in the garage so that probably helps.

With that said, I think it would be good to give ST some feedback on their packaging so that this can get resolved for future customers. A lot of us might be okay for now, but that still doesn't mean ST shouldn't address it.
